A Horrific Era...
I called HUBBY and told him to switch his TV on. He knew just by talking to me what had happened. HUBBY said, stop watching, dont watch it anymore. I couldnt help it. The BBC, CNN, Sky News had the same footage over and over. I immediately went onto the net and clicked on alarabiya, and there it was the footage again. Then the hated voice of Al Rubaiee, lying through his teeth, claiming Saddam was scared. Really? Was he? The whole world saw the defiant look in those evil eyes, what fear does he talk about? He was defiant in his life and now in his death. Al Rubaiee claimed that Saddam was respected throughout the execution. They followed the top International Standards. Really? What about the dancing that took place around his body? Is that International Standards? Is that Islamic standards? I am against the death penalty in all way or form, I know that Saddam deserved it, but as I mentioned before its an easy way out for him. He should have been left in a solitude cell. A solitude cell where he will rot and die.
I wander, will the militias of today be tried and executed "fairly" just as Saddam got his share? How come we still see them roaming the streets? Will Al Dhari, Muqtada or the other rogues be tried "fairly" for the crimes they are committing against their own people? Will they? I doubt it. Right now Im going through very mixed feelings. My brother called me to wish me a happy Eid, and a happy victory. I said what victory? Victory of the fallen, thats what it is. I havent heard any explosions or gunfire in the Green Zone, maybe its the calm before the storm...
Saddam should have been interrogated infront of the whole world. Saddam should have answered the WHYs? that all the families of the martyrs wanted to ask. The WHYs that all the Iraqis wanted to know. WHY DID YOU SLAUGHTER US? WHY DID YOU HATE US? WHY DID YOU DESTROY US? WHY, WHY and WHAT FOR? Instead of the theatrical fiasco that took place which they claim was their way of justice, they should have asked him WHY?
Yes I cried, I cried today... I cried for all the anger and the fury thats stranded inside of me. I cried for all those who died on his hands and all those who are still dying. I cried for the Tigris and Euphrates thats filled with blood, endless blood. I cried for all the mass graves he left behind and are still filling up. And mostly, I cried for all the children, the children that were orphaned during his time. The children that never got to have a normal life. The children that were faced with fending for themselves at an early age. The children who no longer remained children. Their childhood stolen from them because of a selfish ruthless narcistic ruler. Yes I cried. I cried at the end of an era...A Horrific Era...

Some times the victims take the feature of cutthroat!!. let me telling you a short story:In my quarter there is a women...i couldn't remember that i saw her without black clothes..because she has been sweared after Saddam hanged her four brothers; that she still wearing black until Saddam die!! today i saw her with new dress!! and she was very happy..finaly: my lady don't be sad...this is the life (nabeel al iraqi)
If it helps any, Neurotic Iraqi wife, I cried too... For the pain Iraqis have had to suffer through, and for the hope that someday Iraq will be safe and happy. My empathy and prayers are with you and with every Iraqi. I'm hoping that is worth something, and helps just a bit.
As Churchhill once said, "This is not the begining of the end, but the end of the begining".
HappY Eid, Happy New Year!!

"Why?"
NIW, do you really think he would have answered? Or that he really could?
Whatever anyone feels about this, it is closure. Closure for all of those people he hurt.
I will wish you a Happy Eid, NIW. Let this be a step forward and not a step back.
Are you talking about Saddam or Bush? Their actions seem the same to me.
The NY Times adds a lot of detail to the final moments: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/31/world/middleeast/31gallows.html
I was amused by this aspect:
"The room was quiet as everyone began to pray, including Mr. Hussein. “Prayers be upon Mohammed and his holy family.”
Two guards added, “Supporting his son Moktada, Moktada, Moktada.”
Mr. Hussein seemed a bit stunned, swinging his head in their direction. ... “Moktada?” he spat out, a mix between sarcasm and disbelief."
I gotta agree with Saddam here!
Political designs behind Saddam’s execution :
1. Saddam is clearly the scapegoat for an international war syndicate, which includes many in our current political leadership, both in front and behind the scenes. Evacuating due process, controlling evidence and terrorizing the defense team were all par for the course in Saddam’s trial. A key reason for the speedy road to execution, was to eliminate a prominent player and key witness of this international criminal war conspiracy, thereby avoid further indictment of members of our leadership, many of whom have been accessory to Saddam’s actual crimes.
2. To « bookend » media fatigue and public indifference, re : Saddam’s trial. The whole point of the « trial » was to deliver a quick public execution, and thereby feed the hunger for blood so brilliantly cultivated in Western public opinion. An execution gives sense of heightened drama, and inagurates the next round of intensified bloodshed in the region… and beyond.
3. Lastly, to make Saddam a martyr for (gasp!) sympathisers, thereby deepening chaos in the middle-east over a longer period of time. Certainly, the US-led war in Iraq can be called a success insofar as its central purpose has been to aid the spreading of chaos in the Middle-East.
CNN must have worn that video out by now , they play it every 10 minutes, I can't watch it anymore ! - and why do we need a video ? - till now only the "insurgents" made videos of their "executions" - has Maliki now sunk to their level or did his masters in Tehran demand it ?
This cartoon just about sums it up ...

Time to dig out some old GnR concerts and blow some cobwebs away for a couple of hours ... "we don't want no civil war"
Happy New Year / Eid if that's possible.
Gillesroy:
3 years from his capture and a trial on one that lasted over a year.
How much longer would you have made a parade of this? How much longer would you make his victims and families wait for justice?
What would happen if he pulls a Milosevic and dies next year of old age while on trial? Would justice then be served for the Iraqi people? He was 69 years old. Maybe they would pull him out of his death bed and hang him then?
Nicolae Ceauşescu and his wife in Romania were arrested, tried in 2 hours and executed on Christmas Day. Saddam was given far more justice and deserved less. Probably less than he really did deserve. No bleeding heart outcry of injustice there. Of course not as no one had a political dog in the fight.
What do people think will really fuel more bloodshed in the region? The death of a former Dictator or people like Sheikh Abdel-Rahman al-Barrak in Saudi Arabia issuing a fatwa a few day ago calling all Shia infidels?
erhaps the families of the nine Jews who were hanged in Al-Tahrir Square in January 1969 after a so-called trial on 'espionage' and the countless other Iraqi Jews who were tortured to death by the Baathist Istikhbarat will now have closure. What goes round comes round. I will never forget the television images of hundreds of thousands of people dancing and singing and sharing sweets under the swinging bodies of my fellow Jews whose only crime was their religion.
Many of people siting underneath their air conditions..and entire his family in safe ...then he say: ooohhhhh dont hanging Saddam!! ...ITS AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS!!! but i say for all those who love or sympathize with sadam: go to the hell with him !! we are very happy for the execution.
note:When Saddam has been killed your father you will know what i mean!!
I SHOCKED!! WHEN I FIND THIS BLOG SITE IN YOUR FAVORITES IN YOUR OWN BLOG(http://truth-about-iraqis2.blogspot.com/)!! ITS SHAME ON YOU NEUROTIC IRAQI WIFE!! YOU ARE ONE OF SADDAM'LOVER!! AND IT'S VERY CLER THAT YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY IF ONE OF US TROOPS ARE KILLED!!!!!!
ooohhhhh dont hanging Saddam!! ...ITS AGAINST HUMAN RIGHTS!!! but i say for all those who love or sympathize with sadam: go to the hell with him !!
I'm not thrilled about it but it has nothing to do with Saddam himself. I have no doubt at all he "deserved" his fate.
It has everything to do with the rest of us left in the world. So, what did we learn from this? Nothing. Kill and we'll kill you. 'Scuse me for being underwhelmed but hey, isn't that what we've been doing all along? Where has it taken us?
Ok, the Iraqi courts decided and it's done, fine, I'm glad at least it's over. If it makes some victims feel better then I'm thankful for that at least.
If you truly believe not dancing for joy over a hanging means one sympathizes with Saddam then you understand nothing at all.
Nabeel, while I fully respect what you said but this will not change anything. My cousin who lost her husband a week ago is left with two small children and don’t think she will take off the black anymore. My other cousin do not know where her husband, he was just kidnapped by the government. Our friend’s fiancé was kidnapped with the Sunnies bunch of High Education Ministry and found 4 days back, he was found as 4 pieces. They were supposed to get married in this Eid.
I am happy that those whom Saddam hurt are feeling justices is being served now but the others will not find this day. I hope they will but is this is the kind of life we want?
And NIW, I beg you do not answer those who accuse of being a Ba’athi and love Saddam and that kind of BS. Just don’t answer them and bardi rasich pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
New footages are being shown on Al Jazeera and other TV channels about the last moments of Saddam. It belies assertion of Rubaie who said Saddam was in fear before he went to gallows. I agree with you about Ruabi that he is a liar and is a hypocrite. He is really intolerable,
Not that it matters to you Iraqis, but a former president of the USA, Ford, died and his funeral rituals were occurring around the same time Saddam was hanged. I find it amusing reading these comments showing sympathy for Saddam and those in the American left showing sympathy and respect for Ford because when these two leaders were in power, there was noneof this for these leaders from the same mouths that espouse them now. Life is full of ironies.
Hi Nabeel, ishonak??? Thanx for your comment, youre one of my favourate reads, will have to add you to the list...I hope this woman will live in peace now, I really do. She needed closure, and I guess everyone else did too...Ayyamak Sa3eeda, inshallah ta78ee8 kul il amanee...
AG, I hope so too, I doubt it, but you never know, I believe in miracles.
Anon, Sorry I never replied to your email was hoping to do it pretty soon. And thanx for your thoughts.
Lynette, theres a saying, its egyptian, min bu2ik li bab il sama which literally means from your lips to the doors of the sky. Lets hope its a good thing...
Anon, I agree. But atleast Bush didnt kill his people or torture them, he didnt starve them or kick them out...
OJ, that and many other articles I read just sent shivers down my spine. The nerve of them. Seriously...
Hmm I dunno abt that Gillesroy...
Yeah ant I saw that cartoon on asterism's site. It does sum it all up, except the US flag should have been exchanged with the Iranian one...
Ex Iraqi Jew, one of my parents friends was slaughtered because she was a jew. I know what you mean, Saddam idolised Hitler, and so wanted to be one. But the same people you see cheering at their death are the same ones cheering his and all the otehr deaths...
Anon, Yes he should have been killed, no one is not disagreeing with you. Im not a saddam supporter, but Im not this govt's supporter either.
Lol Anon, I never agreed to what TAI writes. But I have many blogs that are interesting, and shows you all sides of Iraqis...
Not your mama, I couldnt have said it better...
Lol Miraj, ishon 3iraftee I was gonna answer them??? That cracked me up. Yeah well, let them say what they want, I dont care, Im here to say what I feel and not what people wanna hear...
Khobar, I dunno why, I really despise that guy, I loathe him, he gets under my skin, he is tries to deflect the truth...This is the new govt for you...
Sang J moon, Sorry, my condolences to you and your nation. I dunno much about Ford, but have read a few things on the net and watched news about his death. I kinda liked the way he was so natural, natural and not like todays presidents all over the world...
Dont dare change the neurotic part of your blog. Nice hearing your voice.
The history of perfume oils dates back to ancient Egypt when these fine scented oils were presented to royalty as
gifts. In modern times, however, when the word "perfume" is said, most people think of department store fragrances,
which consist mainly of the concentrated oil and alcohol solution. Nevertheless, as more and more people are finding
out about them, perfume oils are experiencing great popularity. Here are some interesting facts about perfume oils:
The history of perfume goes back to Egypt, although it was prevalent in East Asia as well. Early perfumes were based
on incense, not chemicals, so aromas were passed around through fumes. The Roman and Islamic cultures further
refined the harvesting and manufacturing of perfumery processes to include other aromatic ingredients.
Thus, the ancient Islamic culture marked the history of modern perfumery with the introduction of spices and herbs.
Fragrances and other exotic substances, such as Jasmine and Citruses, were adapted to be harvested in climates
outside of their indigenous Asia.
