Their Filthy Blooded Hands...

Its Friday, the day where I hybernate in my room until its time to go to work the next day. I dont usually read news because I know that something will definitely upset me, and out of all days Fridays are always my peaceful days. But I decided to look at the headlines, and lo and behold, I read this :Parliament to decide on a new flag in November!!!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM???People wrote to me telling me Im being too harsh on the Iraqi govt in my post "The blatant Neurotic Iraqi Truth". HARSH??? I dont think I was harsh enough. I dont think there are words that can describe my anger, my frustrations, my disappointment in this seriously deranged govt. No, there arent any words except curse ones and I will keep those to myself.

Dont you see anything wrong with this picture? I think they have truly lost it. Lost all sanity. They left aside all other important issues, and they concentrate their efforts on changing the flag AGAIN!!! Please tell me, agree with me here. I really cannot fathom their states of minds. What kind of humans are they? People are dying from the Cholera in Babil and Missan, and these fools tried their best to hide these facts. They forbid any journalists to take pictures or write about the deaths thats overwhelming these districts. WHY??? Is a piece of cloth that hangs behind them in darn interviews more important than Iraqis lives??? God dammit!!!

Im sorry, but this is seriously too much for me right now. When the flag first changed after removing the stars because they said it represented Saddam's Baath, no one was happy. They also used the excuse of pleasing our Kurdish partners. What partners? In every single interview shown on TV with a Kurdish politician, there was NO sign of the new flag. NOTHING. Instead they had their own Kurdish one. I mean cmon, who are they trying to fool here.

Come November and they want to change it? Why and what for? Why cant they concentrate on the real issues here? None of the Iraqis I know that work with me even paid attention to the new one. All of them still have the old ones above their desk, including yours truly. Thats the flag I knew all my life, and thats the flag I will take with me to my grave. But the issue here, the real issue is, this govt is making a fool of itself. In fact they ARE fools. Ughhhhhhh...

The saddest part of all this is, these people are here to stay. Elections or no elections, its not gonna make a difference. I asked all the Iraqis whether they will be voting, majority replied with a NO. "What for Neurotica? We voted last time and look where it got us" I said but you have to vote to take these poeple out. One laughed and said "Neurotica, who are we fooling here? these are worse than Saddam, no one can take them out. I will not waste my time Neurotica"

I am too angry to write more. I wish with all my heart Obama wins and all the troops leave very soon. VERY SOON. I cant wait to see that day. Maybe then and only then the govt's sanity will return. That is if they had sanity to begin with. All the money theyre getting from their Oil exports is ending up in their pockets. Not a single Iraqi saw the gains. They fool them with building new swimming pools and gardens, so the world can say wow look Iraqis are enjoying themselves in this heat. Iraqi boy had his first swim in his life, bla bla bla. What about the Cholera? The cholera thats sweeping many parts of this nation? What about the sewers flooding the streets? Give me a break.

If anything, they should change the flag to just the colour red. A red piece of cloth rifraffing behind them indicating the Blood of the innocent on their hands. Their Filthy Blooded Hands...

I'm one of those who saw the nice footage Iraqis enjoying a beautiful swimming pool. It still bothers me that the women don't feel comfortable there, except on the 2 "women only" days each week. They should be able to go and cool off, or swim laps for exercise every day if they want to, especially in the heat. Oh, well.........

Haven't heard a word about the Cholera. I agree, it sounds like your government officials are totally worthless!

this is actually very annoying.. i think they changed the flag 2 times, no? first there was a blue one which got rejected big time.. then the new one with kufi script and no stars..

it's just a flag to be honest.. changing it will NOT make it a better country, or worse country.

A bit like the Welsh and British.. are the Kurds in Iraq.. the Welsh will never hang a british flag, instead always the welsh dragon flag.. it's an inferiority complex in my opinion...

You have to enjoy the game of politics. It is when the 'Awakening' started to happen, all of a sudden Mr.Bush sent a few more troops called the 'Surge'. And amazingly enough the violence went down, not because of the Awakening, but due to the Surge. It looked good and played well in the Western News.
Most Governments don't like the 'dark' side of it's society to be shown, much like each human hides it's weaknesses. You comment on how incompetent the Iraqi government is, don't you think others are the same? Look at the U.S., now the main Military guy in Iraq, says the war there will never be won. And a little light went on in Afghanistan that the Border with Pakistan needs to be re-enforced...dah.
If you look for competence in Government, you are wasting your time!

so much for 'peaceful friday.' but sometimes you have to let the anger out.
governments around the world do the same thing. they focus on things they can do to avoid the real, painful issues.
sometimes it works. a problem changes and rights itself.
maybe its better to solve a non-issue than to fail?
but of course, you're right. the serious problems need to be addressed sooner or later. ignoring them is stupid. because eventually, they will overwhelm everything else.
and the flag won't matter anymore.

"People wrote to me telling me Im being too harsh on the Iraqi govt in my post..."

i think i was the only people saying you were harsh, but i never talked about the iraqi government. if you review the comments, i said "you are certainly being too harsh on the iraqi people." and that is because you stated "The Iraqis, or to be specific, the Iraqis in the government and higher places, are the laziest most unreliable people ever." that is not fair, certainly some people in the iraqi govt have the same opinion as yours, but they can do nothing about it and must keep their mouth shut to keep their jobs. even in hitler's government there was good people: link

If you despise authority that much I daresay Obama and Biden are the correct choice. Saddam is gone and the Iraqi's can still neglect the peoples need for fresh water and supplies? You yourself are in a six figure income bracket. Oil isn't tomorrows fuel source. Your investment future will be very similar to the Bush and Obama families. Yes, Nationalist purpose is the same flapping energy we blindingly sacrifice our self respect for. I thought you were England's responsibility and if I'm not mistaken Iraq pretty much always has been Europe's. If not for the queer Aestheticism involving Oil the people between those two rivers may have already washed away. I think today is the day you found out you are sacrificed A vampire..."and God bless each and every one of us." We all make sacrifices. Paint It Black, right.

Neurotica, I'm not surprised at all! In many ways, what the Iraqi government is doing is very similar to what Saddam was doing in his last days when he started writing novels! They got to the point of no return, from a moral point of view. They don't care anymore because they know they can get away with it especially when they know now that most Iraqis inside Iraq will not vote for anybody (which is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. It’s like Iraqis are throwing away the only weapon that they (Iraqis) can use to kick the butts of the crooks in power but that’s for another blog/comment) which means the ones who will vote are most probably voting for one of the governing bunch of traitors anyway. And to secure their position further, the Iraqi government have recently decided not to hold any elections outside Iraq cause they know that almost all the Iraqis outside Iraq will vote against them cause Iraqis outside know how screwed up the whole government is and they are (again Iraqis outside) are in a better position to look at things since they DO have power and they don't have to wait for hours for 30 liters of gas.
Sometimes I wonder (and I'm sure this question have crossed the minds of many Iraqis at least the ones who care) WHY IRAQ? why is this country so jinxed over it’s history? Then I remember that Iraqis (with few exceptions) are the least patriotic people on this planet. Some may think that what I'm saying here is really harshand that there are many Iraqis that love their country which may be true but as a percentage, I'm sure that we are talking about less than 5% of Iraqis which makes the vast majority (95%) unpatriotic! This vast majority is, by the way, the most ignorant portion of the Iraqis and the more ignorant they are, the easier it is for them to fall prey to religious brain washing. Over decades, religious leaders have been preaching that Iraq is Saddam and Saddam is Iraq and that stealing from the government is Halal and a way of getting back at Saddam. Some of them go to the extent of saying that even working for the government is not encouraged if not forbidden for some (the Shi'a have done that during Saddam Era if not before that and the Sunna have done that in the post-Saddam era so both are equally guilty).
As a result of these decades of systematic religious brain washing, Iraq, for Iraqis, is no longer considered a "homeland". Iraq, for the majority of Iraqis, is more like a person, a stranger by all means and not a country to belong to and be righteously proud of. And let’s not forget the famous saying "
"كيفما تكونوا، يولى عليكم

Finally, I would like to say that I have said what I said with the best of intentions. Please don’t forget that I am an Iraqi as well and I love Iraq and any criticism I am expressing here is constructive and is an attempt to do something about the frustrating conditions that my country is going through.

Neurotica, A friend of mine forwarded this video (link below) to me today. Watch it and you'll very clearly see the kind of attitude that the politicians in Iraq have towards their own citizens. The same citizens who voted them in power. This guy is the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives! This guy steers that parliament's sessions for God's sake! he is so flat out lying about his understanding of ordinary Iraqi's needs and his (and the Iraqi government's) hard work for Iraq but at the same time he does not even bother to try to look convincing to the people watching him on TV, cause simply, he just could not care less! listen to the way he is expressing his contempt of the Iraqis abroad for their unfair criticism of his government's efforts, it is disgusting but a must see.

Leo, a friend of mine sent me the video of mashadani,lol...Can you see the type of people that are ruling this place? Its that video that aggravated me and made me write my other post.

Hi Bamboo, I too was happy for these kids, but Im sure you can understand where my frustrations are coming from. The Cholera is spreading like no tomorrow but no one is mentioning it. I saw this link today:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080912/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq_cholera;_ylt=Arjfzq2eBKA4KW7rp09rB8cLewgF

But yesterday on Iraqi TV Fayhaa, a caller from the south was literally crying asking for help from the govt. Imagine an elderly man crying on the phone begging for HELP!!! Because the Cholera is spreading..Thats heart wrenching...

Yes Buj, you are right, they do have a complex. A BIG ONE!!!

Seraphine, As you said, I think theyre trying to avoid the real issues here and concentrate on worthless things. I seriously want the Americans to leave, now more than ever. I want to see how this worthless govt will act. Theres a saying in Iraqi, khalee narhum takul 7a6abhum, meaning, let the fire between them devour them all. Because most definitely the Tribesmen aka awakening will fight back, and the militias will start. I wanna see it happening, I wanna see how this govt will act.

Tib, no hardfeelings, I just wanted to prove a point...

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have." -- President Gerald Ford

Neurotica, I believe that the majority of people go into government service to really make a difference and make changes to the 'business as usual' politics. What happens, is these newbies become tainted by their surroundings. They begin to see the 'you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours' way of getting things done is actually the only way of getting things done unless they want to lose their minds doing it the right way. Why can't people just be honest, hard workers?

Do you think this whole 'new flag' thing is a decoy to cover up what is really wrong there? This was the first time I've heard about the cholera. Some day, when I'm a member of Congress, maybe I can answer a lot of my own questions about politics.

Always,
Melanie

"If you despise authority that much I daresay Obama and Biden are the correct choice"

Ah, Hitler loved people who bowed to authority, above reason and common sense. It's surprising there are still those who bend over for authority, even when it's mistaken and corrupt.

I wish Iraqis would just re-adopt the pre-Ba3thist flaq, but its not my call.

I agree with Leo, and in a sense, the flag *does* embody the root of many of the problems you have been talking about: NO PATRIOTISM. The flags since 1963 have embodied the *vision* of Iraq by certain elements (Arab nationalism, Muslim, whatever) rather than Iraqis themselves. The continuing attachment by many to the Saddam-era flag is as much a symptom of a lack of patriotic feeling for IRAQ (all of it) as is the Kurdish suspicion toward the Arab-majority feeling.

Why do the members of parlaiment steal? Why are they corrupt? Because they lack any true patriotism toward their country.

BTW The US entered Iraq for its own perceived interests not Iraqis'. Even the decision to democratize Iraq rather than installing a new pro-US strongman, was done because of the perception after 9-11 that such goverments had made the world less safe for Americans. So no President (neither McCain nor Obama) will risk allowing Iraq to fail on his watch. People who think Obama will remove troops from Iraq regardless of the security situation there, are allowing themselves to be sold a bill of goods.

(Has anyone noticed that Obama is no longer promising to "send the troops home"?)

That and the al-Aloussi thing. Expressing hatred toward regional powers that clearly bear post-Saddam Iraq no ill will is ever so much more important than helping Iraqis to rebuild their shattered lives and country... .

Or - not.

There is nothing more I would like to see than the Iraqi people be a part of a prosperous nation. It will take time and hard work, but I believe that the Iraqi people will overcome the obstacles that are currently preventing prosperity. And not just for a select few, prosperity for every Iraqi citizen.

I would like to be able to go home tomorrow, if it were possible. However, while I am here, I am dedicated to do my part in trying to make Iraq a safer place for everyone. I pray for every Iraqi family that there will always be food on the table and everyone comes home safe every night.

We have a restaurant called T.G.I.F. Or Fridays, Thank God It's Friday, Get it. It's always open. Fridays like right next to the 7-11. The Happy Hour features cheap Margaritas. The Mexican Culture was famous for the drink. I don't even think you can drink the water in Mexico because God stole the rain clouds. Sad, anyway they didn't rename Mexico, Tequila. I don't know what they renamed Mexico and Friday's is the perfect enclosure for the Michael Myers. Defensive practice through and through. The Rural "Urban Development" is where they'll excuse the Cholera. Have you seen the British flick "Hot Fuzz". My saving Grace.
