Dont Cry Over Spilled Milk...(Pod Cast Interview with Jonathan Curiel added)

What a horrible day its been today. Rainy and murky, basically not my kinda weather. I had to wade my way through floods of water to get into work while holding my cheap, probably chinese made umbrella that chose to fall apart right in the middle of a harsh rain downfall. I arrived into the office with my hair looking just like a dog's fur after a shower. My colleague then turns to me and said hey Neurotica, I think I know what you suffer from, its SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Umm, I actually knew that I suffer from that disorder ever since I lived in London. Hence the reason why after 12 years I called it quits. I hate rain and clouds...Yuck...I WANT SUNSHINE.

Oh and btw, HUBBY's 2 days, has turned into a week more like it. The night before he left, I tried my best to laugh and make good of the situation, very unlike me, but it worked. He turned to me and said, how come youre so happy Im going, why arent you giving me a hard time? Are you gonna be upto no good? Oh God HUBBY, I said, If I nag and whine, you tell me to stop, if Im laughing and smiling, you tell me Im upto something...I dont know how to act anymore? Just be yourself he said, and ofcourse I couldnt wait at the opportunity and needless to say the POUT made its debut again...

I made sure to watch Bush yesterday doing his umpteenth speech about Iraq. Surge in troops, in my own opinion is exactly what we need. This should have happened long long time ago. But a surge isnt enough. As an Iraqi I know that Maliki will not stand by his words for dismantling the militias. He vowed he would a few months back and never did anything about it, why would it be different this time? The sadrists vowed that they will retaliate to the surge and some extremists said this will make the situation even more volatile and instead the US should have supplied a withdrawal timetable. What BS.

As long as this government stays in power, surge or no surge in troops will not make a difference. THIS GOVT HAS TO GO, for things to improve. Its wishful thinking I know. As long as the likes of Hakeem, Muqtada, Rubaie etc remain, then wave bye bye to any plan. But all is not lost. If the troops will come here, to Baghdad, solely to clean it from insurgents and militias no matter what Maliki does or doesnt do then that will work. But if its gonna be like last time, when the troops surrounded Sadr city and then Maliki ordered them to leave just like that, then its a massive failure. I think Bush should have been harsh. You dont stick with our plan and your promise, we will leave your country in no time. Believe me, no matter what this govt says, they are cowards. They are nothing without the US support. If the troops leave suddenly at any point in the near future, all these people you see sitting on the "chair" enjoying the vast treasures of Iraq's piggy bank, will not waste a nano second. They will run away and save their own asses. They will leave Iraq because they know things will get bloody.

As for my colleagues reactions, many of them couldnt care less. Actually none of them watched the speech on tv as it was 5am our time. They managed to read what Bush said on the net. When I asked them what they thought, they simply shrugged their shoulders and said, it wont really make a difference. Bring more troops or not, people are dying and will continue to die. One of them, N (aka mr carpenter) who just 5 days ago lost his 21 year old nephew to sunni extremists said, this war isnt about Americans vs Iraqis, this war is about Iraqis vs Iraqis. He then continued and said, its all internal. Badr militia vs mahdi, Shia militia vs Sunni insurgents. Then he looked down at his hands and said, the victim, the victim is one, the innocent Iraqi. The victim is my nephew, and the hundred of thousands just like my innocent nephew. He was a flower, my nephew. Young and hopeful. Always optimistic and never with all the mayhem that was taking place did he ever lose that hope. And now, now he is gone. With those words, N got up and left. I felt his pain, I felt it, yet I just sat there staring into space. I looked up to the dull and dark sky and asked WHY?

Syria and Iran opposed the move, lol. WHAT IS IT TO YOU??? OMG, butt off will you!!! I mean, we dont interfer with your own rotten policies, we dont send people to YOUR countries to bomb themselves amidst women and children. We dont send financial or ammunition to terrorist groups in YOUR area so they can bomb the hell out of you. LEAVE US ALONE. Clean your own dirty houses before you clean anyone elses. A few days ago, WOB, who btw calls all Shia's Iranians (And she knows Im a Shia), came upto me and said, have you heard the latest? I rolled my eyes but amused at what BS will come out of her devilish mouth and said no what is it? She said come outside for a smoke and I will tell you.

As I stood there freezing my ass off, WOB came close and said in something more of a whisper. You heard about the 2 Iranian diplomats that were caught by the Americans here. I nodded. The plan is, she continued, they were conspirating with Al Hakeem to blow up Hussein's shrine in Karbala and take his tomb to Iran. Hmm, I said, if they blow it up how in the hell will they find anything? WOB then said, well they pretend its bombed, but they definitely are planning to take it to Iran. I just kept nodding my head and then said, wow, thats interesting. WOB said, this is top secret, I have my sources. Aha, sure thing. A day earlier, HUBBY actually told me his colleague forwarded a memo on some website that said exactly the same thing. I wouldnt be surprised. The biggest Iranian agent is Al Hakeem. He will do anything to please them, anything, even if it means killing his own people. UGHHHHHHH...To think I ever felt hopeful that Iraq will be a better place with these people in it, makes my stomach turn.

I say this now, and Ive said it a million times before, the only solution for Iraq to be safe again is to have a government that has no allegiance to any country except Iraq. To have a government that has no allegiance to any sect or religeon. A secular government. Apart from the government, we must also have a loyal Army. Loyal to Iraq and not its militia gangsters. With the surge in troops, a fund just for vetting the Iraqi Army should be set up. Forget the rebuilding efforts for now, its not really making any difference to the average Iraqi's life. Use the billions in top notch technology and start vetting away. This is the only solution.

This said, I wanna thank everyone's suggestions about our upcoming R&R. Ive actually taken alot of places into consideration. Nepal, South Africa and Morroco are actually on my research list. Lets see what happens. Ive got very little time to put things together, while mr HUBBY is enjoying his time on his business trip. I was pretty teed off when the 2 days became 3 then 4 then 5...Flights were fully booked his excuse. Umm, yeah HUBBY, sure. People are leaving Baghdad and not vice versa. Oh well...Doesnt matter, Im over it. Theres a saying Dont Cry, Dont Cry Over Spilled Milk...

ADDED LATELY: If you wanna hear my horrible voice check out the podcast Interview with Jonathan Curiel of San Francisco Chronicle . I enjoyed talking to him. There's also an article he prepared about Iraqi bloggers here

Sweetheart, This country is over ... not now but before 40 years. It is like a big manholl (A big room under the house to store the shit in it) and Saddam was the cover of this big shitty place. When the cover was removed (Saddam) all shit went out. There is no hope at all..... Every one going there, working or living in this big manholl (Shitty place) is playing a big self deception game.........The place stinks.

Interesting blog. Are you researching getting on a flight to South Africa?

January 12, 2007 at 10:00 PM

Wow!! This is the first time I've read anything like this. Seems you put your entire heart and mind into writing these blogs while your husband is away working. Its very interesting to read. I know alot of people may feel the same as you do. I really hope you make a difference somehow. Anyway, if your looking for a place to go, try New Caledonia. If your husband cant make it, I'll come with you!!

Bush's plan was finalized with Maliki's promise to crack down on Sadr's militia. You are right that it will fail without it. So far so good:

http://www.iraqslogger.com/index.php/post/680/Iraqi_Papers_Thursday_Sistani_Chimes_In

"Ayatollah al-Sistani issued statements affirming that the Iraqi State should be the only party allowed to bear arms in the country. Sistani’s words came after meeting with Muwaffac al-Rubai`i, the national security advisor, who informed him about the Baghdad security plan and its progress. Iraqi papers interpreted Sistani’s position as a form of support to the latest actions of the Iraqi government; Az-Zaman said that al-Rubai`i had “gained” Sistani’s approval of the security plan. Az-Zaman added that the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Mailiki had vowed to ‘cleanse’ the Iraqi armed forces from the “sectarian infiltration” and that he would not be protecting the Mahdi Army."

As a bonus, we've got Sistani backing up the disarming of the militias.

January 12, 2007 at 10:13 PM

I certainly do agree with you on the fact that there is no hope as long as we have this bunch of corrupt dis-loyal politicians (without exceptions). I don't think that we'll have to wait for long to prove this new plan/security campaign a failure. Try to enjoy the R&R otherwise.

all the iraqis i know in the states are working to get thier families out. a 20k surge is useless nedd to send 400k to make a difference and no one is willing to do that.

January 13, 2007 at 6:17 AM

I pray you and your husband unite soon.

I agree with you, extremism has to end in Iraq, and those politicians representing extremist views must be removed, and until than, nothing the outside world can do to bring peace.

Get your spirit re-aligned, go to Bali for your vacation. Stay at a hotel several blocks from the beach for pennies on the dollar. Go through an Australian travel agency to save money if you have to pay more than $40 a day. Try going to Lombok. Rent a house in Ubid for $600 a month with servants. Taxi's are $17 a day.

January 13, 2007 at 4:54 PM

An American news analyst on Charlie Rose (PBS) pointed out that 20,000 troops is really only about 5,000 at any one time--the rest are off duty. And Bush mentioned 4,000 will be sent to Anbar or somewhere, so that's more like 4,000 on the ground in Baghdad. So, as you say, so what?

You mentioned South Africa for R&R. We were in Cape Town for a few days several years ago and loved it. Lots of night life, sights, great weather this time of year (summer down there), and nice people. Probably more affordable than typical resort areas.

Friends did Bali last year and couldn't say enough about the kindness of the people. They were on the go a lot, but had time to relax in the home of their host.

Then there's the Seychelles. Pricey but gorgeous, maybe on par with New Caledonia already mentioned. You can forget about the rest of the world in that island paradise.

Whatever your choice, I think you deserve fun and rest and affection. Pulling for you always.

I enjoy reading about your life. It is different from the rest of us yet you are very positive and connected to your country. Good luck to you and your husband. May you guys see a very peaceful Iraq soon. Hopefully, 10 years from now, I will come to Baghdad for our R&R:-). By the way, I hope you make it to India.

What an insightful blog. You're probably going to see a ramp up in traffic since you are featured in a SF Chronicle article today (Jan 14). Tell hubby that India stands for I'll Never Do India Again - don't go there unless you're forced to.

This is a great blog, it is good to get a real opion from Iraq rather than what the jounalists want to protray. I dont aggree with extra troops, not because I dont think more support is nessesary, but because I have no faith in their ablities. Being the biggest does not mean the best and the best know that brute force is not the way to create peace.
I would have normally supported more troops only to give more support to Iraqs security, so normal people going about their business dont not have to suffer bombs or more suffering, but I have no faith. I believe the troops will be withdrawn around election time. I cant see any new President being elected without the promise of bringing troops home.
I want the troops home, in fact I didn't want them to go in the first place, but now I think the west have a responsability to Iraq. Maybe it should be the UN that help though.

Anon, I dont agree. Theres great potential for Iraq, if only they unite. If only the militias and insurgents disappaer, Iraq will rise up again. But ONLY IF ONLY...

Yzer, yessss, and I cant seem to find suitable flights from the Emirates. I want the shortest flying time, and when I did search for that every thing was fully booked...Im bummed...

Lol Intrigued, I will drive you nuts if you accompany me, Im quite fussy!!!

Sang J, do you really think this will happen??? I dunno...Altho I did read that theyre getting peshmergas to assist them. Which may have a sign of hope since the Kurdish army, doesnt have loyalty to any sect. Keeping my fingers crossed...

Anon, I guess we all have to wait and see...

Lol Dwitt, are you asking for a neurotic post???Dont worry, I will give u one soon..

Edward, Yes, all the Iraqis here are looking for means to leave this place. Every single person I work with has a plan, be it legally or illegally...

Yusuf very well said, I agree with u fully...

Anon, I think I do need to get my spirit back, seriously, that is sooo true. Im stressed out and I feel I have lost taht lustre...Bali, Hmm, dont think HUBBY will like it...will suggest it tho...Thanx for the tip

Thanx Dzer, hubby finally arrived and I got to see him today, he brought some travel brochures for all these places which will be my night reading tonight...

Big Zed, I too hope that one day I will be able to see the real baghdad. Maybe we can meet for Iraqi tea and have a chat then, what do u think???

Lol Buj, welcome to my blog then, but let me tell u this, I have been reading yours for awhile now. I really enjoy it....And I miss the Emirates alot, especially cuz my family is there!!!

Anon, Im very grateful for Jonathan to write that article. I think he is brilliant. Why are u advising not to go to India???Have you been???What happened there???Cuz HUBBY still thinks we have time to get visas...

Hey Mark, well, I dunno. I believe increasing the number of troops is good. Thats my opinion tho. Cuz if the numbers stay as they are now, things will never improve, and to pull out now!!!! omg that will be the biggest catastrophe in human history. I accnot start to explain the mayhem that will take place...But I also do see where you are coming from. You want the troops home, and I can understand, but Bush started this, and I believe he should fix what he broke. He cant just leave the Iraqis hanging, no wayyyy.

January 14, 2007 at 8:57 PM

OMG!! is it really YOU? P-O-S-I-T-I-V-E. I use your insight i.e. the crooks in the political system and share you prepective in staff meetings. Keep looking up Habebe, This will work Inshalla. And have a great holiday!

Dear neurotic_wife, many thanks for your feedback. You say "Anon, I dont agree. Theres great potential for Iraq, if only they unite. If only the militias and insurgents disappaer, Iraq will rise up again. But ONLY IF ONLY..." You condition the hypothetical great potential for Iraq with 1) If only they unite 2) If only the militias disappear 3) If only the insurgents disappear. If these conditions do not materialize in the real world Iraq will be in bad ( I call it shitty) condition. First let us look at Iraq today and in its modern history (since the ottmans came to this place) and see the social structure of this place. The basic tenent of this society is Tribalism. The loyality of the man is to the clan and not any social institution such as a modern state. You can unite the tribes by one mean only, and it is using brute force by a Totalitarian System. This is the way how it is and was in the real world. We can hope and wish many things like changing the attitude of the entire society, but this is only an exercise in wishfull thinking. Wishful thinking is the formation of beliefs and making decisions according to what might be pleasing to imagine instead of by appealing to evidence or rationality that is the illusion that what you wish for is actually true. We can blame politicians or Militias, but the problem is deeper than this. Metaphorically speaking, I think that Iraq is and was like a big manholl and Saddam was the cover of this big shitty place. When the cover was removed (Saddam) all the shit went out. There is no hope at all.....AT ALL... Every one going there, working or living in this big manholl (Shitty place) is playing a big self deception game (Thinking Wishfullly ) .........The place really stinks.

ahlan wa sahlan anyway.. this is great. today i was actually a bit bored so i went to toot to see who else is listed, and your name kinda scared me so i clicked...

also would like to introduce my new slave and best friend craig.. he does anything i tell him :)

UAE is a nice country. The country of my birth and very long-time residence (amongst other things), but unfortunately I spend most of my time in the rainy islands of the UK and that tends to reflect itself in my posts.

However, as soon as zee computer gets fixed will post some more.. especially about the ibn battuta travels.

January 15, 2007 at 2:54 AM

I read your story on SF Chronicle. I got so intrigued, I had to get off my lazy Sunday butt and check you out on cyberspace... I like your blog name. I admire your courage. I worry about your crazy mind. I heard your voice and you touched my heart instantly. Iraq will always be there my dear, whether these bastard continue wrecking it or not. And when I say " bastards" I mean all. I am from Lebanon, and I live in the U.S., and the rest is history you already know. The same thing happened in my country, everybody chipped in for the destruction fest and Lebanon is still there. I never lost hope, neither should you. One day we will both have a wedding for freedom in both of our countries, and this is the attitude we should maintain. Simply by living the dream is a reassurance for us in fighting this ugly madness in our countries ... Be careful with names and places you mention on blogs, some people hate your guts and they're waiting for you. Keep blogging, kick some ass, and don't forget to kick your HUBBY's as well. If I was around you, I will be like a butterfly intoxicated with your scent all day, all night.

January 15, 2007 at 2:57 AM

HUBBY shouldn't have left you alone in the first place, just because it hurt you so much. You should be his priority, especially in such difficult times. Just tell him you wont put up with that shit anymore.

January 15, 2007 at 4:01 AM

NIW,
Great interview you did for the SF Chronical. And, as always, thanks for sharing your experiences from the GZ with us. Be safe.

January 15, 2007 at 4:35 AM

Great interview! I listened to it and then had my husband listen to it with me again. And, I really had to want to hear it, because I'm on a dial up connection and it took over a half hour to download it! There's nothing wrong with your voice, and I'm glad I could hear your laughter, too!

I don't want to insult your government, because the Iraqi people voted them in. However, it seems they didn't pick the right leaders the first time around. That's understandable, because they're new at this. I think by now most level headed Iraqis can see that there's a reason for separation between mosque and state. Let the government take care of the people's physical needs, services, and infrastructure, and let the mosque take care of people's spiritual needs. I think the vast majority of Iraqis would probably agree with that now, after they've experienced how divisive and deadly the battles between the various religious sects can be. They're disrupting the basic government functions, and making everyone's lives miserable. Let the government handle the daily mundane systems providing basic services to everyone, and let the religious sects battle out their differences on theology in a different forum, without weapons. The adults should be adult enough to allow security and peace for the children, and hold their debates in an adult manner through intellectual exchanges instead of deadly violence.

How long do you think it will take for the population to DEMAND a change in that direction?

January 15, 2007 at 8:49 AM

Interesting opinion but I disagree with you totally. AL Maliki is trying his best. The problem is Americans have made this Chaos. From Day one they let the lawlessness take place. disbanded the army and police while all iraqi's objected to it. Came up with a de-Ba’athification slogan knowing that this will isolate a big number of the population. But no, the Americans knew better. They didnt give a shit about what happens to ordinary iraqis. they actually encouraged chaos, hatred and distrust so Iraqis will never unite and they (Americans) can control the whole country. But now with the situation out of their control they are trying to bring Iraqis together and of course after all the killings and hatred why should Iraqis talk to each other. Revenge is the first choice. Lets kill first and talk later. I have an advise to the Americans “don’t change your bet in the middle of the race you will lose big time.” For your information Saudis and other gulf states including Jordan and Egypt are pumping money into Sunni extremists and Iranians are doing the same in Iraq not for the purpose of helping their people but to create more chaos for two reasons; American policy and democracy will not work in iraq and disrupting Iraqi oil supplies so they (gulf states & Iran) can benefit from high oil prices. Its not political and its not between Shia’s and Sunnis its all about the oil money.

a,

they actually encouraged chaos, hatred and distrust so Iraqis will never unite and they (Americans) can control the whole country.

I can understand why somebody would want to have that opinion, but it doesn't make much sense. The US already did control the whole country, before the chaos and violence began in late 2003. The "upside" that you believe motivated America does not exist.

BuJ, knock it off with the gay porn, too. Male slaves now? Quit drinking, stop watching the gay porn, and everything will be fine. Don't worry.

January 15, 2007 at 9:39 AM

"The problem is Americans have made this Chaos."

Yes, we have 120,000+ American occupying soldiers in Korea, Japan, and Germany, and all we've brought is chaos! Chaos! Chaos! Northern Germans drilling holes in the heads of Southern Germans. Urban Japanese murdering 1,000 farmers every day, torturing them with electricity, raping women, cutting off heads. Koreans making 200 bombs a day killing women and children and blowing up vehicles. All because of the U.S. military presence. It is almost unbelievable. Put a thousand U.S. soldiers anywhere, and suddenly, there is chaos, and people lose their civility, and everyone turns into unhuman animals.

It is a part of our main foreign policy goal: chaos. This notion of advancing freedom and democracy is just a bogus covery story for our real goal of having everyone live in total anarchy with random violence.

Some people have lost touch with reality.

Great interview Iraqi Wife.

January 15, 2007 at 6:21 PM

No, you shouldn't change the name of your blog even though you're not really neurotic. No one who reads your blog and senses your honesty and forthright demeanor and humor could even suspect that you are but we will continue to read it for the Iraqi insight and wisdom that it might convey to us who are interested in what is really going on there but mostly hearing about it from government officials and U.S. reporters.

January 15, 2007 at 8:39 PM

At last! A voice to go with the blog words.

Just heard your conversation with Jonathan Curiel and enjoyed your remarks. You speak the way you write, which is natural I suppose but hearing you makes you more real.

Your remark about the insurgent identities shocked Curiel, I think, but nothing should be a surprise these days. I don't think the media have made the point as clear as they could that insurgents are foreign invaders acting on their own behalf, and not those of Iraqis. Is this pretty much correct?

January 15, 2007 at 11:37 PM

Dear Anonymous, You asked "How long do you think it will take for the population to DEMAND a change in that direction?" Well it seems that you know Iraq from secondary sources and not from first hand sources.

YOU THINK THIS IS A CIVILISED SOCIETY.

I tell you as an IRAQI CITIZEN, between two and three million years Iraqies will see that there's a reason for separation between mosque and state. Let the government take care of the people's physical needs, services, and infrastructure, and let the mosque take care of people's spiritual needs.

Iraqi citizens then will let the government handle the daily mundane systems providing basic services to everyone, and let the religious sects battle out their differences on theology in a different forum, without weapons. The adults will be adult enough to allow security and peace for the children, and hold their debates in an adult manner through intellectual exchanges instead of deadly violence.

THAT WILL BE IN TWO MILLION YEARS FROM TODAY

Sweetheart, The basic tenent of this society is Tribalism. The loyality of the man is to the clan and not any social institution such as a modern state.

You can unite the tribes by one mean only, and it is using brute force by a Totalitarian System.

That is my opinion as an IRAQI CITIZEN

January 15, 2007 at 11:57 PM

iraq is over, lets not pretend that we are optimistic and full of hope and oh lala its not holywood. this is iraq. its now the deathheaven, the only way to get things going in iraq and build a country is to abandon the idiotic and hypocrite religious principles that we have. lets invent a new religione, or lets massively convert to something new and moderate.

January 16, 2007 at 1:12 AM

sinan,

Not a bad idea! I'd like to suggest you stay with the God of Abraham, but seek to know the true character of God from a different teacher. Jesus comes to mind. He didn't kill anyone. He healed people everywhere he went. He had no desire for "booty" or material gain and he wasn't a polygamist. He greatly emphasized forgiveness, charity, and serving others. Also, kindness and mercy. Remember the prostitute the people were going to stone to death? Jesus said let he who is without sin cast the first stone. BIG lesson there. Jesus never forced anyone to follow him. The monotheistic faiths all agree that Jesus lived on this earth as a man. He was subjected to all the same emotions and feelings as we all are, yet he's the only one who managed to never sin against God in thought, word, or deed. Since God's the only being I know of that doesn't sin, it would seem that Jesus was the best representative of the character of God, who ever lived on this earth. That would seem to give his words and teaching the greatest credibility. If he never sinned, he never lied.

January 16, 2007 at 10:30 AM

Jesus = Christianity

RIGHT

I hear a lot from Christians about God’s “infinite compassion and mercy”.

Instead of harping on me about something so unapparent, they should go tell it to the Midianites. (Please open your Bibles to Numbers 31) The following verses are a classic example of wholesale slaughter and rape under the direction of the same God they claim to be so merciful. A quick sample of this tale: On the way to the promised land, God had Moses wage a war campaign against the Midian. Moses was told to put every Midianite to death, plunder anything of value, set fire to their towns where they lived and all their encampments. Moses gave the orders to his troops (the sons of Israel) and went on a further campaign. On the return of his troops Moses was enraged with the commanders of the army. He said, “Why have you spared the life of all the women and children? You are to kill all the children and kill all the women who have slept with a man. The lord says spare the lives only of the young girls who have not slept with a man, and take them for yourselves, so that we may multiply into a great nation.” Yes, friends, this is biblical infinite mercy and compassion for you. I particularly like the way that Moses got upset with them for sparing women and male children, but allowed the young girls to be kept for later raping.

I have had some Christians proclaim that these Midianite girls were not taken for raping but marriage. How ridiculous! If you continue further in the scripture you will find that marriage to a Midianite was a crime against God. A man named Zimri, broke the law and married a Midianite woman this angered God so he sent a plague among the Hebrews. Fortunately, a zealous son of Israel speared Zimri right through the genitals, and the plague went away. So now I ask you, if you could not marry a Midianite, just what were these “virgin woman who were to help multiply” good for?

I don’t think the first born in Egypt during the captivity would have agreed with the verdict of compassion and mercy either. (Exodus 11:5 & 12:29) First of all, Jehovah is the one who purposely hardened the heart of the Pharaoh so that he would not let Moses and the Jews go. God messed with someone’s free will. God could have even teleported the Jews out of captivity without bloodshed, or put the Egyptians to sleep while they left, but no. God decided to set up a situation in which he knew he would have to punish the Pharaoh. Though this he didn’t even do. He punished the children instead. Judging from God’s previous actions, killing innocent children is much more his forte.

Lastly, please attempt to read the entire book of Joshua some evening. It is a long sequence of atrocities. I have not given all these quotes for space reasons. I urge you to look them up for yourself. Especially for Christians who are not familiar with the bible. It will leave you not only shocked and in question of just what you are worshiping, but it will give a new definition to all morality you claimed was a derivative of God. If by some chance you read Joshua and you are still compliant with the loving notion of God, I suggest you re evaluate your code of ethics.

Here is the place I will now speak of common rationalizations used for this slaughter. I have discovered via my discussions that there are two major forms: the corruption argument and the mercy argument. The former says that those slaughtered were evil and deserving of their fate; the latter says that since they were religiously incorrect, it was a mercy to terminate their existence.

The corruption argument simply does not hold up. The people slaughtered in the Old Testament were almost uniformly blameless (with a few exceptions, of course for instance, the Sodomites violated the conventions of hospitality.) Usually, no justification is offered beyond the fact that since they were of another tribe, it was OK to kill them. It goes with out saying that the hordes of slaughtered children were innocent. (*Quick tip-If God was anti abortion he wouldn’t have ordered the murder of pregnant women and young children.)

As to the mercy argument: If I don’t claim to be suffering, and don’t ask to die, neither you nor any god has the right to decide that you know better. (This would of course be a violation of my free will.) If a person tried to do this to me, I would quite frankly attempt to kill him; if a god tried, well, the only weapon I would have would be withholding my worship. Are you beginning to see why I do not comply with the worship of the Christian God?

Jesus is quoted many times in the Bible saying that a believer can ask for anything through prayer and receive it. He even goes so far as to say that mountains and trees can be thrown into the sea simply by praying for it. This is clearly a lie, and can be proven to be a lie by any believer. Simply pray for me to be converted to Christianity right away. Or better yet ask God to move the mountains behind my house. He could make a lot of converts that way. If I’m converted today, I’ll post a public apology on my web site and devote my life to kissing God’s ass. If I’m not converted it would only be fair for you to apologize and devote your life to kissing my butt.

Here are the quotes from Jesus that proves that he lied:

1) And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen. "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS)

2) Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8 NAB)

3) Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst. (Matthew 18:19-20 NAS)

4) Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him. Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. (Mark 11:24-25 NAB)

5) And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:9-13 NAB)

6) And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14 NAB)

7) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. (John 15:7 NAB)

8) It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. (John 15:16 NAB)

9) On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. (John 16:23-24 NAB)

A lot of Christians ignore what Jesus actually says in the Bible. They also tend to add things to the actual words to make them say something else. If you honestly and truthfully read these quotes, without adding to them, it is very easy to see that Jesus is not saying that God will think about your prayers. He says God will grant all your prayers. Clearly, God doesn’t grant all prayers and this proves that Jesus was a habitual liar.

"Bush started this, and I believe he should fix what he broke."

Bush isn't doing shit. He meanders around, living in spoild weath, memorizing his lines and displaying his inner evil fool on international television. It is the young adults of America who carry this burden. Many (much more than are reported) troops are coming home and killing themselves. That's how terrible this is. Normal, healthy, motivated people are coming home and taking their own lives. And you believe we should send more to their destruction because Bush says so? HELL NO! Not until Bush puts on a uniform and goes to Iraq to risk his precious life....

Anon 12:02,

Why are you quoting from the Torah re: Christianity? Christianity is in the NEW testament. Not the OLD testament.

Really hacks me off when people who think they know something, but don't, start babbling this sort of nonsense.

What does WOB means? I’m from USA and this BLOG is really interesting. Why are you talking about Chinese? I’m sorry but I’m offended from your saying about cheap Chinese-made items because I am Chinese. One question: Did you buy that umbrella from the 99 cents store?

Cleave defender of Chinese umbrellas

Do you think there is 99 cents store in Iraq?

Do you think Iraq is US State?

The difference now is supposed
to be a better trained and equipped
Iraqi Army that can also send
three brigades ... lets not continue with the Bremmer
dis-Banding the Iraqi army ...
I ask you ... how would the Shia
majority react if one day after
toppling Saddams statue
they woke up the next day and found
Saddams entire army and police
back in business ??? I claim they would have started an even worse insurgency then is now.

And you know what ??? we will never know so this topic should end
its absurd to state how wonderful
Iraq would be if only Bremmer
brough back Saddams entire army and police ... because your hypothesis CAN NEVER BE TESTED

One can only plan for the future ... Baghdadis must support fully any new soldiers who come into their neighborhoods whether they be Kurdish or Americans ...
They will be targets they are doing a difficilt job ...
They are interested in searching for weapons of war and bomb making material SO COOPERATE ALREADY

There has been reports on how the
Baghdadis will react to Kurdish troops in their streets !!!
Well then if you care about the ethnic makeup of the security forces and you want to pick and choose then I guess the security is not too bad !!!

Bush believes that the overwhelming Majority of Iraqi
want to moderate and unify and live in peace ... he believes
extremist elements on both sides
are responsable for the violence

The moderate clerics and political leaders must urge unification
and cooperation with the new security plan ... those who fight back need to be killed ... those
with exposives and RPG's and Mortars in there homes and businesses need to be arrested.

This madness must stop and the way it stops is for total cooperation
with all the security services ...
Those who ifiltrated the security services need to be
identified and imprisoned

Programmer Craig,
Thank you for pointing out the obvious to those who needed it.

Anon 12:02,
For someone who has read at least part of the Bible, you completely missed the main message - the Good News of the Gospel. God didn't give us the laws of the Old Testament thinking we could keep them. God KNEW we couldn't keep them. He gave us the laws of the Old Testament so we would realize we needed a Savior. Then, God provided one. When Jesus showed up on the scene, He fulfilled over 100 prophesies and took us out from under the old laws and made our salvation possible by the GRACE of God. Please read the New Testament and get understanding.

65 killed Almost all the victims were female students at Mustansiriya University in a predominantly Shiite area who were waiting for buses to take them home. A suicide bomber blew himself up outside the university catching students fleeing from the car bomb attack.

Why is the world community so quiet, no world condemnation from the UN ? No outrage from Arab nations ? Can one help but think that the the deafening silence is giving the signal that these barbarians don't care very much for arab female human lives.

Anon 12:11,

"If you honestly and truthfully read these quotes, without adding to them, it is very easy to see that Jesus is not saying that God will think about your prayers. He says God will grant all your prayers."
True.

"Clearly, God doesn't grant all prayers"
True.

"and this proves that Jesus was a habitual liar."
Whoops! Missed the boat here.

With all of God's promises come conditions. For example: God has to hear your prayers to answer them. If you are harboring any resentment or unforgiveness in your heart towards anyone when you pray, God doesn't hear your prayers. How many people ever pray with a "right" heart, free of any resentment or unforgiveness? That's a tall order to fill. I'm still working on genuinely forgiving a few people, who have hurt me. People also have to pray with a right motive. God is big on motives. He can see the motives behind our prayers, even when we don't truly recognize them ourselves. Another consideration is praying within the will of God. If you can't find something in God's word to back up what you're praying for, God isn't obligated to answer it. Also, God doesn't promise to instantly answer our prayers. Just because you don't see an immediate answer doesn't mean God isn't working on it. His timing is perfect, our timing isn't.

Jesus Christ is a False Messiah

According to Jesus’ admissions, as well as the Bible’s prophecies, Jesus of Nazareth could not have been the Messiah. This of course, would invalidate Christianity as we know it. The compilation presented here shall be split in three sections. The first shall be the biblical prophecies that were made in order to identify the messiah, which Jesus does not fulfill. The second shall be the prophecies that Christians use to say that Jesus was the Messiah, yet they clearly fail. The third set shall be the prophecies and statements Jesus made yet they are false and have never came true.

Prophecies to Identify the Messiah, Which Jesus Does Not Fulfill:

1) Matthew 1:23 says that Jesus (the messiah) would be called Immanuel, which means "God with us." Yet no one, not even his parents, call him Immanuel at any point in the bible.

2) The Messiah must be a physical descendant of David (Romans 1:3 & Acts 2:30). Yet, how could Jesus meet this requirement since his genealogies in Matthew 1 and Luke 3 show he descended from David through Joseph, who was not his natural father because of the Virgin Birth. Hence, this prophecy could not have been fulfilled.

3) Isaiah 7:16 seems to say that before Jesus had reached the age of maturity, both of the Jewish countries would be destroyed. Yet there is no mention of this prophecy being fulfilled in the New Testament with the coming of Jesus, hence this is another Messiah prophecy not fulfilled.

Prophecies Christians Use to Verify Jesus as the Messiah, Yet Clearly Fail:

4) The gospels (especially Matthew 21:4 and John 12:14-15) claim that Jesus fulfills the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9. But the next few verses (Zechariah 9:10-13) show that the person referred to in this verse is a military king that would rule "from sea to sea". Since Jesus had neither an army nor a kingdom, he could not have fulfilled this prophecy.

5) Matthew (Matthew 2:17-18) quotes Jeremiah (Jeremiah 31:15), claiming that it was a prophecy of King Herod’s alleged slaughter of the children in and around Bethlehem after the birth of Jesus. But this passage refers to the Babylonian captivity, as is clear by reading the next two verses (Jeremiah 31:16-17), and, thus, has nothing to do with Herod’s massacre.

6) John 19:33 says that during Jesus’ crucifixion, the soldiers didn’t break his legs because he was already dead. Verse John 19:36 claims that this fulfilled a prophecy: "Not a bone of him shall be broken." But there is no such prophecy. It is sometimes said that the prophecy appears in Exodus 12:46, Numbers 9:12 & Psalm 34:20. This is not correct. Exodus 12:46 & Numbers 9:12 are not prophecies, they are commandments. The Israelites are told not to break the bones of the Passover lamb, and this is all it is about. And Psalm 34:20 seems to refer to righteous people in general (see verse Psalm 34:19, where a plural is used), not to make a prophecy about a specific person.

7) "When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt." Hosea 11:1. Matthew (Matthew 2:15) claims that the flight of Jesus’ family to Egypt is a fulfillment of this verse. But Hosea 11:1 is not a prophecy at all. It is a reference to the Hebrew exodus from Egypt and has nothing to do with Jesus. Matthew tries to hide this fact by quoting only the last part of the verse ("Out of Egypt I have called my son").

8) "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." Micah 5:2 The gospel of Matthew (Matthew 2:5-6) claims that Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem fulfils this prophecy. But this is unlikely for two reasons.

A) "Bethlehem Ephratah" in Micah 5:2 refers not to a town, but to a clan: the clan of Bethlehem, who was the son of Caleb’s second wife, Ephrathah (1 Chronicles 2:18, 2:50-52 & 4:4).

B) The prophecy (if that is what it is) does not refer to the Messiah, but rather to a military leader, as can be seen from Micah 5:6. This leader is supposed to defeat the Assyrians, which, of course, Jesus never did. It should also be noted that Matthew altered the text of Micah 5:2 by saying: "And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judah" rather than "Bethlehem Ephratah" as is said in Micah 5:2. He did this, intentionally no doubt, to make this verse appear to refer to the town of Bethlehem rather than the family clan.

Statements Jesus Made Which Are False:

9) Jesus in John 14:12 & Mark 16:17-18 said: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth in me, the works that I do shall he also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." This implies that Jesus’ true followers should be able to routinely perform the following tricks: 1) cast out devils, 2) speak in tongues, 3) take up serpents, 4) drink poisons without harm, and 5) cure the sick by touching them and MANY other of Jesus’ "works". Curiously I have yet to see a Christian that can do any of the above on demand.

10) In John 14:13-14 Jesus stated: "And whatsoever ye ask in my name I do, that the Father may be glorified in the son. If ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it." In reality, millions of people have made millions of requests in Jesus’ name and failed to receive satisfaction. This promise or prophecy has failed completely.

11) Paul says Christianity lives or dies on the Resurrection (1 Corinthian 15:14-17). Yet Jesus said in Matthew 12:40 that he would be buried three days and three nights as Jonah was in the whale three days and three nights. Friday afternoon to early Sunday morning is only one and a half days, so he could not have been the messiah by his own and Paul’s admission.

12) Jesus’ prophecy in John 13:38 ("The cock shall not crow, till thou [Peter] hast denied me three times") is false. Mark 14:66-68 shows the cock crowed after the first denial, not the third.

13) In Mark 10:19 Jesus said: "Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother." Jesus needs to re-read the Ten Commandments. There is no Old Testament commandment against defrauding. The only relevant statement about defrauding is in Leviticus 19:13 , which says : "Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbor." This is an OT law, but is not listed with the Ten Commandments. Surely, if Jesus was god incarnate he would know the commandments.

14) "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven" (John 3:13). If Jesus is in heaven, how can he be down on earth speaking? Moreover, according to 2 Kings 2:11 ("and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven") Jesus was not the only person to ascend into heaven, nor was he the first. Elijah preceded him and apparently Enoch did also ("And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him"--Genesis 5:24).

15) In Luke 23:43 Jesus said to the thief on the cross, "Today shalt thou be with me in paradise." This obviously has to be false, for Jesus was supposed to lay dead in the tomb for three days following his crucifixion.

1 6) Jesus says : "Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy" (Matthew 5:43). This statement does not exist in the OT either. In fact, Proverbs 24:17 says, "Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth…"

17) Jesus is reported to say: "The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it" (Luke 16:16). Certainly every man is not pressing to enter the kingdom of God. The very fact that I am an atheist (one third of the world’s population does not believe in a god) proves this verse to be false.

18) "Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the Sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?" (Matthew 12:5) Nowhere does the OT state that the priests in the temple profaned the Sabbath and were considered blameless.

19) "Yea; have ye never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise'" (Matthew 21:16). Jesus is quoting Psalm 8:2, which says, "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies…". "Perfect praise" has little to do with "ordaining strength because of thine enemies." Another misquotation!

20) "But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him" (Mark 9:13). There are no prophecies in the OT of things that were to happen to Elijah.

Jesus, in all his "God incarnate" wisdom, contradicts himself:

21) Jesus consistently contradicts himself concerning his Godly status. "I and my father are one." (John 14:28) Also see Philippians 2:5-6 Those verses lead us to believe that he is a part of the trinity and equal to his father being a manifestation of him. Yet, Jesus also made many statements that deny he is the perfect men, much less God incarnate. Take the following for example: "Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is God" (Matthew 19:17). "My father if greater then I." (John 14:28) Also see Matthew 24:26 Clearly, Jesus is denouncing the possibility of him being the Messiah in those three verses.

22) Jesus said, "whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire" (Matthew 5:22). Yet, he himself did so repeatedly, as Matthew 23:17-19 and Luke 11:40 & 12:20 show. Clearly Jesus should be in danger of hell too?

23) Does Jesus support peace, or war? Matthew 5:39 "Resist not evil, but whoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." Also note Matthew 6:38-42 & 26:52 where Jesus teaches non-resistance, Non-violence. Now read (Luke 22:36-37) Where Jesus commands people to take arms for a coming conflict. (John 2:15) Jesus uses a whip to physically drive people out of the temple.

24) Matthew 15:24 Jesus said, "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of lsrael,". This would of course mean that he is here only to save the Jews. The scriptures repeatedly back up this notion that Christ is savior to the Jews and not the gentiles (see Romans 16:17, Revelations 14:3-4 & John 10). The contradiction lies in what Jesus later tells his followers: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations" (Matthew 28:19).

25) Can we hate our kindred? Luke 14:26 Jesus says "If any man come unto me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brother, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he can not be my disciple." John 3:15 "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer." Also see Ephesians 6:22, 5:25, & Matthew 15:4

26) Even many of the staunchest defenders of Jesus admit that his comment in Matthew 10:34 ("I came not to send peace but a sword") contradicts verses such as Matthew 26:52 ("Put up again thy sword into his place: for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword").

27) Deuteronomy 24:1 & 21:10-14 all say that divorce is allowed for the simple reason if a "man no longer delighteth in his wife". Yet Jesus comes along and breaks his father’s law by saying in Matthew 5:32 that adultery is the only way one can be divorced.

28) In Mark 8:35 Jesus said: "...but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s the same shall save it." How could Jesus have said this when there was no gospel when he lived? The gospel did not appear until after his death.

29) Matthew 6:13 Jesus recites a revised prayer and states, "Don’t bring us into temptation." God is the cause of everything, even Satan. God has been leading people into temptation since the Garden of Eden. Otherwise, the trees of life and knowledge would have never been there.

30) Matthew 12:1-8 Jesus thinks it’s okay to break his father’s laws, by breaking the Sabbath day. He states that he is basically exempt for such fiascoes and that he is Master of the Sabbath.

31) John 3:17 Jesus contradicts himself when he says, "God didn’t send his son into the world to condemn it, but to save it." Jesus seems to forget his own stories.

32) James 4:3 If your prayers are not answered, it’s your own damned fault. This is in direct contradiction to where Jesus says "seek and ye shall find, ask and it shall be known to you".

33) "If Jesus bears witness of himself his witness is true" John 8:14, "If I bear witness of myself it is not true." John 5:31

34) "I am with you always, even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20), versus "For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always" (Matthew 26:11 , Mark 14:7, John 12:8) and "Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am thither ye cannot come" (John 7:34). Is this the kind of friend one can rely on?

35) "And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her" (Mark 10:11 & Luke 6:18), versus "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery" (Matthew 19:9). In the book of Matthew, Jesus said a man could put away his wife if one factor-- fornication--is involved. In Mark and Luke he allowed no exceptions.

36) Jesus is quoted: "Judge not, and ye shall be not judged; condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven" (Luke 6:37 & Matthew 7:1), versus "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment" (John 7:24). Jesus stated men are not to judge but, then, allowed it under certain conditions. As in the case of divorce, he can’t seem to formulate a consistent policy.

37) "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Matthew 27:46, (also note the time before crucification where Jesus prays for the "cup to passeth over me") versus "Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour?’ No, for this purpose I have come to this hour" (John 12:27 RSV). Jesus can’t seem to decide whether or not he wants to die. One moment he is willing; the next he isn’t.

38) In Luke 23:30 ("Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, fall on us, and to the hills, cover us") Jesus quoted Hosea 10:8 ("...and they shall say to the mountains, cover us; and to the hills, fall on us"). And, like Paul, he often quoted inaccurately. In this instance, he confused mountains with hills.

39) "And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they know him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist" (Matthew 17:11-13). John the Baptist was beheaded, but Jesus was not. And what did John the Baptist restore? Nothing!

40) We are told salvation is obtained by faith alone (John 3:18 & 36) yet Jesus told a man to follow the Commandments-Matthew 19:16-18 (saving by works)-if he wanted eternal life.

41) In Luke 12:4 Jesus told his followers to "Be not afraid of them that kill the body." But Matthew 12:14-16, John 7:1, 8:59, 10:39, 11:53-54, & Mark 1:45 show that Jesus consistently feared death. Jesus went out of his way to hide, run, and attempt escape from the Roman and Jewish authorities.

42) Matthew 5:28 says to sin in "your heart" is considered a sin in itself. The messiah is supposed to be God incarnate, not able to sin, yet in Matthew 4:5 & Luke 4:5-9, Jesus was tempted by Satan in the desert, which is sinning in his heart. Jesus also took upon all the sins of the world during his crucifixion, so how can it be said that "Jesus was the perfect man without sin"? This would lead one to believe he was not the Messiah.

43) Jesus told us to "Love your enemies; bless them that curse you," but ignored his own advice by repeatedly denouncing his opposition. Matthew 23:17 ("Ye fools and blind"), Matthew 12:34 ("0 generation of vipers"), and Matthew 23:27 (". . . hypocrites . . . ye are like unto whited sepulchres. . .") are excellent examples of hypocrisy.

44) Did the people of Jesus’ generation see any signs? (Matthew 12:38-40) Jesus announced that no signs would be given to that generation except the Resurrection itself. (Mark 8:12-13) Jesus announced that no signs would be given to that generation. (Mark 16:20) They went out preaching, and the Lord confirmed the word through accompanying signs. (John 20:30) Jesus provided many wonders and signs. (Acts 2:22) Jesus provided many wonders and signs. (Acts 5:12 & 8:13) many signs and wonders were done through the apostles.

45) Jesus commands the disciples to go into Galilee immediately after the resurrection. Matthew 28:10 Jesus commands the disciples to "tarry in Jerusalem" immediately after the resurrection.

46) Matthew 28:18 & John 3:35 both tell that Jesus said he could do anything. Yet Mark 6:5 says Jesus was not all powerful.

47) Jesus says in Luke 2:13-14 that he came to bring peace on earth. Matthew 10:34 Jesus back peddles and says he did not come to bring peace on earth.

48) Did Christ receive testimony from man? "Ye sent unto John and he bare witness unto the truth. But I receive not testimony from man." John 5:33-34 "And ye shall also bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning." John 15:27

49) Christ laid down his life for his friends. John 15:13 & 10:11 Christ laid down his life for his enemies. Romans 5:10

50) Deuteronomy 23:2 says that bastards can not attend church unto the tenth generation. If Jesus was spawned by Mary and Jehovah as the Bible claims then he is technically a bastard and should not be the leader of the church.

Is the Bible is fit for worship?

Dear Believer:

I do not accept the Bible as God’s word because it contains thousand of errancies and contradictions that can not be solved, only rationalized. I refuse to accept Jesus as my personal savior, for his behavior and teachings often expose one who should be escaped and not worshipped. I ask that you read this pamphlet in light of the bible’s teachings; Christians should be “open to reason” (James 3:17 RSV), that we should “reason together” (Isaiah 1:18) and “he who hates correction will die” (Proverbs 15:10) to understand my perspective that the bible has MANY shortcomings.

1. According to your Bible I am to believe that human kind is sinful for Adam and Eve ate the fruit of knowledge. Why are we being punished for the original sin? After all, they ate the forbidden fruit, we didn’t. Reason would lead one to say it’s their problem, not ours. Even the bible contradicts itself by claiming in Deuteronomy 24:16, “children shall not be punished for the sins of their fathers.”

2. We are told that the Bible has no scientific errors and is utterly perfect/protected, yet it says the bat is a bird (Leviticus 11:13 & 19), hares chew the cud (Leviticus 11:5-6), and some fowl (Leviticus 11:20-21) and insects (Leviticus 11:22-23) have four legs.

3. Heaven is supposed to be a perfect place. It is of course, the place you strive for and name “salvation”. Yet, it experienced a war (Revelation 12:7). How can there be a war in a perfect place and if it happened before why couldn’t it happen again? Why would I want to go to a place in which war can occur? That’s exactly what I’m trying to escape, aren’t you?

4. We are told salvation is obtained by faith alone (John 3:18 & 36) and then the Bible claims that it is repentance that shall save us (2 Peter 3:9) yet Jesus told a man to follow the Commandments-Matthew 19:16-1 8 (saving by works)-if he wanted eternal life. So which way is it and how do you know your belief is the correct one?

5. According to the text there are 29 cities listed in Joshua 15:21-32. One need only count them to see that biblical math is not to be trusted. The total is 36.

6. Surely you don’t believe Ecclesiastes 1:9 RSV (“What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun”)? How many cities had an atomic bomb dropped on them prior to 1945, and how many people walked on the moon before 1969?

7. If the Bible is our moral guide, then how can it make pornographic statements such as: “...they may eat their own dung and drink their own piss with you” (2 Kings 18:27)? Also consult Numbers 31 where a whole tribe of people, including the elderly and children are slaughtered. The only survivors were the virginal women, who were later raped by the “just and perfect” Moses and his men. Is that what you want your children reading on Sunday?

8. If God created everything, (Colossians 1:16, Ephesians 3:9, Revelation 4:11 & John 1:3), then he did create the world’s evil (Isaiah 45:7, Lamentations 3:38). Thus, he is responsible. Any being who could create situations such as rape, death, malnutrition, disease, molestation and murder is certainly not fit for worship.

9. For justice to exist, punishment must fit the crime. No matter how many bad deeds one commits in this world, there is a limit. Yet, hell’s punishment is infinitely greater. It’s eternal. Shouldn’t a sinner suffer until remorse is felt and the crime is atoned for? What “justice” is there in infinite damnation?

10. Jesus said, “whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire” (Matthew 5:22). Yet, he himself did so repeatedly, as Matthew 27:19, Luke 11:40 & 12:20 show. Shouldn’t he be in danger of hell too? Jesus also told us to “Love your enemies; bless them that curse you," but ignored his own advice by repeatedly denouncing his opposition. Matthew 12:34 (“0 generation of vipers”), and Matthew 23 :27 (“... hypocrites... ye are like unto whited sepulchres.“) are excellent examples of hypocrisy. If Jesus himself is a sinner by his own admission then surely he can not be the “perfect lamb of god”.

11. Except those of biased Christian writers, there isn’t one writing outside the Bible in all of ancient history that clearly refers to Jesus of Nazareth. The decision to dedicate my life to a deity requires at least one shred of conclusive evidence. Your lord knows non believers exist as a result of this, yet he makes no attempt to supply proof. How can the bible claim god wants all in heaven if he doesn’t make efforts to ensure that we all believe in him?

12. Paul says Christianity lives or dies on the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:14-17). Yet Jesus made many promises concerning his return during the lifetime of his then followers. (Matthew 16:28: “There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom”. Matthew 23:36, 24:34, Mark.9:1, 13:30, Luke 9:27, 21:32 & John 21:22) None of these prophecies have come true. Does this not make Jesus a false prophet? If so wouldn’t that make Christianity invalid?

13. I find the idea that a man had to die for my sins revolting. If God was truly omnipotent he could have simply forgiven us. What kind of deity, would execute one child in order to forgive it’s others? Modern society would call an individual like this sadistic, insane and cruel. Surely, you would not worship a child killer, why do you expect me to? Would you find a judge worthy of the title who would allow my child to be executed in lieu of my sins?

14. John 14:12 states a follower in Jesus can perform any of his works and do it even greater. If you continue to insist I believe in Jesus, it is only fair I may ask of you to show just how strong your faith is. After all, you would be my “mentor” in Christ. I’m not a believer as of yet, but surely you are. Would you mind perhaps resurrecting a dead relative or walking on water?

15. Okay, obviously you didn’t do number 14 and backed out with the “this is metaphorical” excuse. Surely you can try Mark 16:17-1 8 which says believers can drink “any deadly thing” and “it shall not hurt” them. But I don’t think you would be naive enough to drink any arsenic offered. Perhaps I’m wrong and you would be willing to test the Book’s veracity-”lay it on the line” so to speak?

16. All right, so now you have backed out of two of my questions. I’m starting to think you don’t really care about my salvation as much as you claim. Well, unlike your Jehovah, I shall be kind and offer a third chance at redemption. Consider Jesus’ teaching in Luke 6:30 “Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.” Perhaps, if you emptied your wallet and “give of thee” I may seriously ponder accepting Jesus as my savior.

Enough of all this religous crap!
Live by one rule. Treat everyone with 10% more respect than you demand. Does NIW speak of religous matters and how you should worship? NO. Take it somewhere else.

Sorry if I've overstepped my bounds NIW. I'm a long time reader but seldom comment. You writing is beautiful and at times has moved me to tears. Congratulations on the interview and thank you for a glimpse into Iraq through your eyes.
