Happy Birthday to the bestest HUBBY...
After I got back from dinner, I immediately logged on, lit the candle, called him, started the video and sang for him. He was very surprised but unfortunately very pre-occupied with his work problems which kinda bummed me out. I had to stop midway through the song cuz I started crying and I didn’t want him to know. I forced myself to recover within seconds, continued the song, then asked him to make a wish and I blew the candle on his behalf. We had to wrap it up real fast cuz he was expecting a conference call. A few minutes later though he decided to call me again and apologize. But I guess, no matter how much he tried to cheer me up, no matter how much he apologized, it just didn’t work. It didn’t work cuz I miss HIM A LOT. I miss him and needed him here with me today out of all days.
Its amazing though how a year passes so fast, yet the days seem to pass ever so slowly. It was only last year on a crispy afternoon, I gathered about 20 of our Iraqi friends and took them over to HUBBY’s work for a surprise party. And a surprise it definitely was. I coordinated everything with a coworker of his. Asked him to keep HUBBY busy while we slowly and silently climbed the stairs from the outdoor steps and got into the living room. We then waited for HUBBY to open the door and we all jumped and sang Happy Birthday to him. The look on his face was just priceless. He had that boyish smile of shyness which I totally adore. I had also ordered two yummy cakes and was afraid it wouldn’t be enough, cuz silly me, I didn’t account for HIS coworkers, lol. But thankfully, everything worked out perfectly. Infact HUBBY said it was the best Birthday he has ever had.
All of a sudden I had this urge of looking at last years photos. As I was flicking through the pictures staring at the smiley faces, sadness struck me. There we are, HUBBY and I in the garden, surrounded by S, D, E, A, H, Z, A, Z, H, A, O, M, Z, L, Z, K, W, A, A, M. Then I realized that out of everyone in that picture, Im the only one that has remained here. All the Iraqis have gone to the States, and as for HUBBY, well, he aint here with me anymore.
Anyways, its late, and Im tired. Tired and sad. Sad and extremely lonely. But Im gonna make sure that next year on the 1st of March, we will definitely be celebrating together. Celebrating and blowing the candles somewhere real far from here. Somewhere nice, nice and peaceful. And if Im really lucky, I would like to blow the candles while carrying his children (Yeah I want triplets all in one go ;) ). Our Children. But for now, Happy Birthday to the bestest HUBBY...

Both your Prisons have Bombs in them...So Romantic. We have a semi-Pro look-A-like. It was almost 1 O'clock AM in a Restaurant for Cupcakes and recovering Steroid Junkies. My friend was standing taking a piss in a bathroom stall. Semi-Pro look-A-like bursts into his stall hits my friend with the door. My friend couldn't get any urine on his leg to show Billy Madison's Mom calls the guy a "Mother Fucker" under his breath only to listen to Semi-Pro look-A-like make fun of the wheel chair bound and handicap. My friend fearing for his life picked up a piece of flatware and proceeded to taunt Semi-Pro under the watchful eye of a transcontinental Cupcake and Steroid Abuse Firm known as J.U.N.K.I.E. After a few minutes Semi-Pro KNEW his number was up and retreated with his lavishly dressed equestrian white women back out into the busy Disney. Fat Faggot Birthdays to everyone and children WAAAZZOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi NIW,
Congratulations and heaps of returns to your hubby and you, of course. I'm not so big on birthdays but I always say to myself "welcome to the first day of the rest of your life" I heard it somewhere and I don't know why but it kinda helps me to get over the birthday blues as I call them.
It must be very hard to spend personal events like these alone but as we say in Iraq "tikbar watinsa" :)
Keep up the good work and Keep your head high, you're an Iraqi.
Usama-Vancouver
You are living a life that
Iknow that nothing I say could make you feel better about the situation. But you are so enthusiastic that you inspire me to do more for my hubby next time his birthday comes around.
Learn what it is you need to learn from being apart and then maybe the lesson will end and you can move on to another.

Marsho
Awww NIW I'm sorry you're sad. May there be happier times ahead. A Happy Birthday to your husband, and I would have loved to hear you do your version of Marilyns Happy Birthday day song. Solo
Your hubby is a lucky man. It's too bad you can't be with him on his b-day.
Its kinda sad not to have him around on his birthday, but take a quick look on the bright side of the story. You are both alive and healthy, and inshalla you will always be.
Other birthdays will come later, but its the two of you who are irreplaceable.
HELLO NEUROTICA; THANK YOU & I SHALL LOOK FOREWARD TO US MEETING IF IT COMES ABOUT DARLING ;ALL THE VERY BEST TO YOU BOTH VERY MERRY JOLLYGREETINGS & KINDEST OF REGARDS CHEERS YOURS AS ALWAYS WWW.bfbs.com" OLAFF :)
Thanx Usama, Hubby aint big on birthdays either, infact he hates them, but I always bug him and make a big deal out of it. One time, we were in Malaysia on R&R, and we were at this mall. I felt like having icecream, cant remember if it was baskin robins or Haagen Daaz, but anyways, I pretended that I was getting some, while HUBBY sat waiting for me. When in reality, I asked the workers there to gather around, get a small pice of cake and sing Hbday to him. It was tooo funny, cuz the shoppers stopped and everyone started clapping. I cannot tell you enough how his face went all red...It was too funny...
Is it Angela or Anglea? Yes you are right, I did learn alot from being apart. Made me more emotional and less naggy, in a way...December what? And Umm, I doubt I wanna have a third boob, lol
Hey MM, thanx habeebty. When are we gonna hear YOUR good news?
Solo, Ummm, u know what? I impressed myself with my voice!!!I never knew I had many talents...Go figure...
Thanx Muhannad...Not sure abt him being lucky...I can be real bad if he angers me...
blogiraqi, thank you for the nice words...I guess I was feeling real down, and for that small moment, I actually did want him to be with me. Not that I dont want him with me all the time, but you know what I mean. Theres too much shit going on at work, and I miss my family ;(
TY Olaff
happy b-day to hubby! you know, i hate looking on the 'bright' side always, but when you look at your friends' pics and they're all in the States, or away, that's a great thing! When my cousin looks at his wedding pics in Baghdad (from 3 years ago), he points out the guys who have been killed, those who have been forced, out, etc. it's so sad, but if we don't look on the 'bright' side, we'll collapse.
Hi
how silly of me to spell my own name incorrectly.although Anglea sounds kinda nice, it's Angela.
And OMG stands for OH my God, if thats what you where asking by "December what ?"
Hope you are feeling better.
I have not been able to make up my mind, whether to send you my blog address, as i am my own worst critic, i keep telling myself, it's not good enough blah blah blah.
because i am so far away from home , i find it easier to blog instead of having to talk to Grand mother, mother, sister, aunties, cousins and friends, so we all have blogs now but it means
its just general chit chat.
greenwitch01.blogspace.com and on the 8th of feb I sent you a message on the blog and a photo but then chickened out again.
its just a peak into my life, seen as i look into yours on a daily basis.
Angela
i wonder how many love stories this war will destroy, but luckily it's not always the case. neurotica, if you want some inspiration take a look at this love story in times of war.
NIW, Wow. I am sorry to burst your bubble, but your Hubby is an a**. Constantly denying your needs, constantly pre-occupied, constantly everywhere else but where you need him-physically and emotionally.
You deserve better. Don't settle.
Waaaaazzzzzoooommm.
Has anyone ever heard of a Mythical place called the Amazon? As the Myths have it the "Amazon" was a jungle leasing firm similar to "Exactly-Land" or "Heartland". Queerly enough the only candidates granted leasing availability with the firm were "Human Females" advancing the self contained breasting apparatus. Corresponding "Border Envy" would later market the SCUBRA as a sub category of female known as "Lesbian Themes", like the river outside of British Public Television. Of course Wratch and Leasing docket's behold the Scubras deviance. Choking back the unapologetic craft of "Fear Cuddle" and "Name my self inclined greed I'm a man bitch!" the Scrubras created the motto, "SAY IT TO MY FACE LIKE I GOT ONE?" ...and at that point communication was as lost as these ancient tribes and the "NATURE" that surrounded them. BOOKS EARTH EXCHANGE RATE IS MAKING A KILLING!!! in the lab...She has a waaa Oh my God what is it???
Fatima, yes thats true. I should change the half empty glass into the half full...I really should
Hey Angela, I really appreciate you putting your link. And never ever belittle your thoughts. I believe that everyone has a story. No ones life is trivial...And I was asking about your kid's bday. YOu said December, so I was wondering what date, as Im in december too ;)
Tib, thanx for the link. I loved the first story. It gave me goose bumps...Can you blv after all these years they find each other? If this isnt destiny then I dunno what is...
Hmmm Anon, my first reaction was to delete your comment. But then again, i decided not to. Just for your info, those same words are HUBBY's words. He always tells me I deserve better. He always tells me he is an ass,lol...But I think he is teh one who deserves better, simply because Im not that of an easy person to be with. And he has put up with alot of shit from me...So in a way, we deserve each other. And I can never ever see myself with anyone else.
I truly hope you will be with your Hubby somewhere safe and happy on his next birthday! The years go by too fast. Please don't be apart on the next one.
Something from your last post really caught my attention - the PRIDE issue! I believe as human beings, we all tend to have a prideful spirit and think too highly of ourselves. However, in some societies (I've only lived in the US, so that's all I know about), being prideful is not considered an attractive characteristic, unless it's solely associated with national pride and patriotism. In general, prideful people are looked upon as lacking in self confidence, and feeling they need to build themselves up in front of other people. On the other hand, humble people, who are not afraid to admit their own shortcomings, are greatly admired. There's a saying - people who are truly great, never need to tell anyone how great they are. Clearly, you and Hubby, don't have a pride problem. You both have enough self confidence to admit you're not perfect, and that you don't know everything.
I think at heart Iraqis know God wants them to be humble, and walk in love and tolerance with their fellow human beings. But, on the surface, many come across as very prideful, with a very superior and intolerant attitude. Unfortunately, these individuals seem to be the ones who are admired and followed as leaders. I think this excessive spirit of pride is working against the Iraqi people. I don't blame the Iraqis. They are a product of the past regimes, who have controlled their lives. But, the faster the Iraqis can promote humble and fair minded, but strong, leaders, the faster the country will be on the road to unity, peace, and prosperity.
Another mind set that seems to be rooted in Iraqi society, and really concerns me, is bribery. I understand this was "business as usual" under Saddam. But, real liberty and democracy can not coexist with bribery accepted as a part of people's daily lives. Has this situation improved at all in the general Iraqi society?
Kind Regards,
Bamboo
