The Iraqi Dying Soul...

Alone, AGAIN. The best thing Ive ever done for myself since I came here is to ask one of my excoworkers, S, to get me a satellite dish before he left to Amman for his interview. It was by mere coincidence that I found out we were finally allowed to have one installed. Two years ago, this was a big no no, and we were stuck with the tv channels they force us to watch, of which none were Arabic. But thank god they changed the rules, and now Im a proud owner of a small dish that gives me over 300 channels. I have to admit though, three quarters of those are useless arabic music channels which to me are more like soft porn, with singers (if we can even call them that) half naked swaying their hips to the cameras leaving nothing to one's imagination.

As its Ramadhan, and Im a single married wife again, I tend to spend more time after work in my room watching Iraqi news and series. Im not such a huge fan of series, but those Iraqi ones are just great. Its a pity that its targetted towards the Arab public and not the West. They should have english subtitles so people all over the world can understand the realities, the grim realities that Iraqis are going through. Although I live in Iraq, and I know exactly whats going on, I find myself living each moment with the story lines. I cry when the lead actor gets kidnapped, or killed. I cry when explosions take away the lover of one woman. These Iraqi series portray the real tragedies that are going on in Iraq and outside.

Baghdad Phobia is an amazing story. It looks at each and every single angle of the Iraqi suffering. From the militias that have taken over the country, to the disappearance and killings of College professors. To the Iraqi who works with the Americans in turn affecting his own family life. To the lovers who want to get married but their families refuse because of each other's sects. Everyday, I live these stories in my own shabby room. Everyday I shed a tear or two watching the horridness that has plagued my country.

Another program I watch is "Iftoorkum 3alaina" (Your Iftar is on us) by Al Sharqiya channel. The presenter visits Iraqi refugees who were forced to leave their country and either ended up in Jordan or Syria. She would ask one or two famous personas to accompany her and take them to these Iraqi families. She would also bring 2 chefs who would prepare the Iftar meal for these unfortunate souls. I get so overwhelmed watching this program. Overwhelmed with sadness. Innocent families who were forced to leave everything behind. Everything from their homes, their relatives, their parents, their friends just to survive the violence. You see them on TV living in dire conditions, in basements with no furniture because they cant afford it. A lady, on yesterdays show started crying, begging her friend on TV to send her the salary because she is in dire need of it. She made all the crew cry and ofcourse, I cried too...Imagine how bad her money situation is that she is BEGGING, begging her friend to send her money on national TV.

As alaa commented on my previous post, we dont know whether to feel happy or sad that people are leaving Iraq behind. Why? Why should they? WHY? Why cant they live just like you and me? Why cant they have a normal life? What is it they committed in their lives to have to pay for other people's mistakes??? What??? How did we come to this situation??? How??? When will all this violence end??? WHEN??? Where will destiny take them? WHERE???

He promised her his undying love. I will protect you he promised. Trust me, he said. I will protect you. He gave her freedom, or so he said. Freedom that he thought she deserved. But with this freedom, he also opened up every single wild animal's cage on her. That was his vision of freedom. She can do what she wanted, he told her. Here, go and enjoy this freedom. You are free. You are finally free, he assured her. At first, she loved this so called freedom. It was something new. Something she never lived before, never experienced. She went out, she had fun, she would come back at dawn, alcohol and smoke smothered all over her. She didnt know what she was putting herself into. But she enjoyed it. She enjoyed this so called freedom.

One night, as she stepped outside her door getting ready for another "free and fun" time, a car stopped. A car filled with young lost guys. They too were looking for a free and fun time. They whistled to her, she ignored them. They shouted flirtatious comments, she continued walking in the dark alleyway. She is strong, she thought to herself. She is strong and she is free. She didnt care. He will protect her, trust me he promised. They followed her. You can hear their quick steps echo in the quiet of the night. Finally they caught up with her.

As one turned her around, the other slapped her face and forced her to the floor pulling at her long black hair. She fought back, kicking and screaming. He covered her mouth with his strong filthy hands. And so began the so called freedom. One by one, they raped her. One by one they raped her ferociously. At one time, there were 2 on her. One from each side. She cried, she kicked, she scratched their faces. But they didnt give up. Just before she was succumbing to her fate, just before she shut her eyes to go into that forever unconciousness, she saw a shadow. A shadow on the ragged twall that has filled up the streets. She forced her eyes open, her heart began to thump. She was going to get rescued. Yes. Yes finally, finally he came to her rescue. He finally came, just as he promised. He came to snatch her away from these animals. But the shadow, the shadow didnt move. He didnt move.

He stood there, stood there leaning on the filthy twall, smiling, smirking, his arms folded. He was there, he was there all the time. Watching, watching as she got raped. Watching as her legs were forced open and bled to death. He just stood there, getting excited himself as he watched these animals tear her flesh apart. He stood there, unscathed by the scene afore him. She got raped, Iraq got raped, but they stood there watching. We gave them freedom, they reasoned. Thats what they wanted. We gave it to them and they chose to abuse it.

Before she finally shut her eyes forever, she looked at him with her spearing hazel eyes and mouthed her last words to him. To him and to the world. She forced her beaten bleeding mouth open and whispered, "but I trusted you, I trusted you". And with that, she gave her soul up. Her Dying Soul...The Iraqi Dying Soul...

Hi neurotica - i just found your blogs recently - and i want to say Bravo - also about the rape scene you depicted.... i cant help but wonder - in your opinion... who is the one watching... im curious... who gave the iraq this freedom - if i dare ask...? is it the U.S? because if it is... the one brutally watching... im not so sure they are not in there being rapped as well... im not a die hard american supporter at all... its just a humanistic observation...and your rape scene raises many questions i belive - that are worth the debate.

September 21, 2007 at 9:23 PM

Of course the rapists who killed Iraq in your scenario are the American occupiers and their enablers - yes that includes you and "Hubby" too.

HERE GOES Anon Again

September 21, 2007 at 10:12 PM

Oh yeah - it's great we invaded, removed Saddam (who held the country together for 35 years) and then proceeded to destroy all the infrastructure of this once proud nation ...

Saddam is laughing at you. You are in hell. Not him.

Welcome to liberty. But you haven't even seen the worst yet.

Be patient. The occupier has a few surprises in store for you.

September 21, 2007 at 11:29 PM

wow. im sorry the debate is turning into anger ranting. i think - its rather simplistic that the americans are THE rapists. maybe thats what was intended when the invasion happened... but i think the intial rape scene started many year back ... the first may have been imposed western british style regimes - that turned the cut a land called now iraq out of a clan system which was clearly fitting at the time... as iraq had flousihed and existed for thousands of years thus...and into a western style democracy. much later in the rape scene came about ... saddam's iron rule including his act of particpation in iran war, then the embargo one of the most danaging rapes because it created hunger strong enough for people to go mad and become preys to extremism...then leading up to the American invasion - which again may have been intended as rape for the country's wealth - but turned into something completely different altogether. and trust me my friend, the numbers show quiet well ... US persay is not profiting form the war.. there are a handful of business profiteers here and there ... but neither the governemnet nor the american people are getting any. May i suggest that the rapists are from all colors and creed ignorant and hungry. the world's garbage basicly rather than just simplisticaly the americans. but perhaps you are so set and angry in your mind ... that i nor anyone will not convince you... i think the people benefiting have similar anger like yours ... and rant against the americans just like you do.

Yeah the pattern. Any pattern similar to freedom. When the Shadowy figure isn't Iraq. We always offer politicians the vantage of filthy quarters. Leisure, you're saying the cool kids who solved the simple forbidden riddles attacked your sacred village and tainted your work in purity. Neuron's fire. Could someone send me a Wife. I just solved the riddle of the Shadowy figure who does nothing. Where's my fucking dinner. My solution is I place one bullet in my head. Can you write about puppies and stuff. Next domestic violence moves completely indoors. As neurons have the ability to advance freedom. The Egyptian rule of the third eye as promised the memories of gods in every stabled stallion and mare. I was done living at the age of 10. No more TREES then NO MORE DREAMS. Unless someone gets bored and wants to make more ghetto KABOOM. I blame Santa Claus as the lubricant of Leisure ridden disgust and waste that ultimately promised the fate of Christianity. Nah the Hippies were right you can't govern love. Ask a black kid who Santa is. God Bless Bernie Mack. Listen Iraq you all the United Crumb Bums of Bernie Mack now and I might make it through another day on this planet. I'll ask the president to make you Fellas Black like Saddam was when he was protecting Iraq with chemical weapons. I like retards. I'll deal Iraq's attackers Coke. A ton of fucking cocaine. For my wife. I thought violence was fake like WWF Wrestling? Like Goats were easy pets to maintain? Not my Goat. I love her? This isn't funny. They use laughter as a lubricant in which to use others. Wait I'm getting used. Hey do my brains smell like cocaine? Anne Frank had a brain. My precious blanket smelling like the cocaine and brains of a small dead girl no one could think about hanging out with. Actually I remember television being a major problem. I remember the weakest initiates failing at intersections an adult makes time for in completion. This man's wife is the best. Mrs. Friday Night Rape Porn. I can't wait to go to rehab. Rehab is where all my victims are. The pattern there in? We made a goatville. Wait am I a shadowy figure when my lying ass goes to Rehab? Well this women made me feel bad, can my rehab contain liars. Oh wait this is America. I think the ezxtra whored goats would be bad to have in your fake rehab with me. fuck can we just go to Chuck E. CHeese's? Ding ding ding! and they gave us blood and cocaine. why am I writing on this thing where is the life they promised me for making them use their brains?

September 22, 2007 at 3:37 AM

Baghdad phobia is great , I really love this show , I never miss it , I can't wait to know the end of the story , but do you know it's a real story , i mean that someone was kidnaped by the national guards and then orders was to kill him but the soldier who supposed to kill him was his friend so he told the guy to look dead and then escape from Iraq , they have twisted the story a bit to be more interesting

September 22, 2007 at 4:10 AM

Maybe the shadowy figure is this attitude.....
"Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obediant, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and BEAT them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great." (Sura 4:34,Koran)

Surely.

No wait, the attitude of America is the problem, that's it. Because this attitude is never addressed.

Perhaps the rapist is EVERY person or group who seeks power at Iraq's expense?

Iran rapes Iraq constantly with its contribution of arms and bombs to the militias, in its quest to have power over Iraq via the Shiite militias.

Muqtada al Sadr continuously rapes Iraq with his militias that kidnap, rape and murder of innocents and extract ransoms, rob the Iraqi people with their bank robberies, etc.

al Qaeda rapes Iraq with their murders and evil in the attempt to turn Iraq into an Islamic state under their control.

The Iraqi gov't rapes Iraq every time they block the US from being able to enforce the rule of law over the militias, or when they are more interested in their in-fighting than getting things accomplished that help all the people. Or when they can't get services and aid to the people (or can't make it safe for other organizations to get aid in).

America, because they totally did not seem to understand the social structure, and were too passive during those first months, helped rape Iraq, because they disbanded the only existing structure, but did not take the place of the people they kicked out in maintaining law and order.

Everyone has contributed to the rape of Iraq.

The US unintentionally.

The Iraqi gov't mostly unintentionally (though they support too much sectarianism and need to get that under control).

Iran, al Sadr and all the militias and al Qaeda are doing it with every intention of bleeding Iraq and her people dry, with every intention of becoming the ultimate power in Iraq.

September 22, 2007 at 6:32 AM

Field of dreams, You are spot on. Its not one particular group, its all of them. You are absolutely right.

Mohammed, all the story lines are taken from the realities of this country. Another musalsal I really like watching is citizen G. Although it comes abit late for my own liking, but I stay up just to watch it. These are great stories that seriously someone should think about translating it and showing it to the west, so they can feel and KNOW whats going on.

Anon, NO COMMENT. Im sick and tired of rebuking you. Go ahead and say all you want, doesnt bother me one single bit. Yes Im a traitor, and collaborator and whatever you want...Off you go, go and play somewhere else...

Nina, thanx for your email btw.

Olaff, do you think all this is gonna stop any time soon???

Hala, field of dreams got it right. Its everyone...The rapists are everyone, but the shadow, remains one...So the real question is, whats worse? Being raped or being watched getting raped? WHo is the real culprit here? Or maybe its Iraq that has gone too far? Abused the so called liberties???What do u think?

September 22, 2007 at 7:12 AM

you should read the Quran more. salam alaikum from the U.S. from a fellow palestinian couple.

September 22, 2007 at 8:15 AM

Is she being raped like Abeer was raped and then set on fire? Did she have to endure the rape while she could hear her family being murdered one by one by those who brought them freedom?

The rapists are those who have occupied and raped the country, while the people watching are the pathetic world community.

Salam alaikum sister,
You really need to read the Quran and think of the trials that the Prophets had went through. Other than that, as a Palestinian, i really believe you have nothing to worry about because you don't have the yahood killing your people. Pray and have Sabir (patience). Are you a Muslim, by the way?

Anon is the default setting for new people. Anyone can be Anon. I agree with you in everyone of my posts. I'm not playing, I'm really upset. You think communication and confusion is a problem? The metaphors I use don't make sense to you? I don't like puzzles either. I hate mazes. I despise anything that is not absolute truth based on the huge biological reasoning device namely planet Earth. Here on your website I am making appropriate physical remain for clearly defining the sovereign computer from the series Lost. Because the children do not make life they make death in a system called ignorance. I remember the system being weakened under multi-tasking. Dulled empathy and lack in concern at a point continued in instant judgment of mass form rather then individual basis. You said write about leisure being convenience and the ideal tenure of ignorance in state and clergy. Have you watched the television? Television's metaphors not enough? Well basically my memory supports an esoteric region in reality and I'm going mad. Because I do not have reality? No one talks to me about reality. They act as children right in my time and I am able to coddle liars through their descents into LEISURE. They don't even realize they are committing leisure and ignoring the facts of the surrounding world. Instead of being the God of complex creation and inspiration they are waking me in the caste of criminal. I sacrificed my life to save countries such as yours. Because people cannot communicate I am the killer of lost children. Because I write on this web site and get response with a poor evolutionary system I want to teach you Every facet of the Human Social Consciousness and license you as willing and able to maintain a website. (Then Censor your words and kill your culture..SIKE!) You have responsibilities waking this website. Thanks for waking this website your help is much appreciated if only people could talk to me in reality before I tap the souls of the unborn. SO on and so forth. No silly you teach them before they murder there loved ones...Duh. goodnight Lady. Please speak in concrete example. Please do not leisure yourself into a murder. Please do this before the time is lost. please remember you rule the planet with people not against them. Being honest I wanted to be the country formerly known as blood and cocaine not freaking Chuck E. Cheese America. Neat... honey combs...Blah sarcasm lady Jedi Knights aren't people. It's simpler then frothy detergent. I wish I wasn't Mad. I wish people could be fair. You don't even represent a real human marriage. Too many Masters of possession. I'm Dying! Rationale the planet is round. They just wake me up I live in the reality where everyones face and shape are happenstance and the result is I listen to ghostly lies. I'm waiting for my wife don't fuck with me. Hands across her neck Lady I'm not you. Should I go hug the animals at the petting Zoo, trust me yet? look I make this puppy dance. Wanna be my friend? Look at the puppy, wanna talk until we're human? The Cat does not give a fuck and it's sopping wet. Look at it. LOOK AT IT. ALright Night Lady.

salaaam.
aala said
It is my fault, your fault and everybody's fault.

yes, u r right . blaming a single party is not justification. everyone shares the responsibility of the problems in Iraq. Be it sunnis, shias,uk,us, blah blah blah blah.
but indeed the biggest culprate is US who wants to become the BIG Daddy of the world.

Neurotica i m also getting some iraqi channels like alforat, zahraa, sharqiya and many more. but yes the problem is that i cant understand arabic . and subtitles would help even a person like me.

September 23, 2007 at 3:26 AM

September 23, 2007 at 7:28 PM

Salaam. Neurotica

well i have a diferent point of view regarding the axis of evil phobia created by US.

What harm is Iran doing to the other world ?????
i Mean come on dont be so single sided . iran might not be doing anything in iraq ( may be ..... one cant be sure ) . but the US and other people have to show iranian evil ( which are sometimes not true ) .
e.g,
Bush while visiting Afghanistan, said that Iran is helping Alqaeda. but on the other hand President Karazai said that iran is not interfering in his country matters .
So who would u beleive Bush or Karazai . i think i should beleive Karazai bcz it is his country and he knows better than Bush abt the interference of Iran .

And one other thing , the world ( i,e US, UK,Nato countries only) think that Iran will make nuclear weapons and then it will use it against the other countries.

How can u beleive Bush when he use that type of language against when u are already seeing the situation of ur own country . How can u beleive his pre-emptive strikes when ur country is already in rubbish already ( though the people have got rid of Sadaam ..... that is a positive thing ......... but what other things have u seen that are good).

Iran is a soverign country , it might be interfering in Iraq . but it has nothing to do with the situation of other countries .

On the other hand what the US is doing , it has bases , it has its forces and all continents and in almost 60 % of the world.Somewhere it is stationed for the security of that country ( i.e Saudi Arabia , kuwait etc) . In other countries it is there to eradicate its own trained dogs( i.e Alqaeda in Iraq, afghanistan ).

it is true that iran is doing wrong when it interferes in Iraq matters . but why are u that much one sided ..... why u neurotica ... why why why why u .
when people like Olaff say things abt Iran /muslims i can understand ,i can understand the sickness .

I m in love with blog , i cant leave u and ur blog .

but i cant understand ur opinion regarding some issues.

Hope to see ur responce ( which i dont thing would come ........... )

take care

"there are a handful of business profiteers here and there ... but neither the governemnet nor the american people are getting any."

Actually, quite a lot of people are making plenty of money off the invasion and occupation of Iraq.... the military industrial complex is humming along in the USA, and we are definitely number one in weapons sales to the world. The USA is selling arms to most everyone (Isreal bought cluster bombs to use in Lebanon in August 2006, this year Lebanon is buying plane loads of weapons from the USA)... and, of course, without war these industries would suffer, so they keep making up lies to get people to go along with war.

Today, the US taxpayers are paying for the weapons and ammunition the US military uses and the Iraqi army uses. And the CIA has reported that they have pictures of the insurgents holding US-made Glocks - and the military cannot account for 190,000 Glocks they sent to Iraq for the Iraqi military and police.

So, we are paying for arms for the US military, the Iraqi military and the Iraqi insurgents.

A GREAT deal for the manufacturers of those weapons!!!

And don't for one second think that the US disbanded all existing structures in Iraq in 2003 out of misguided mistake. They did it on purpose:

A Film by Alfonso Cuarón and Naomi Klein, directed by Jonás Cuarón.
"When I finished The Shock Doctrine, I sent it to Alfonso Cuarón because I adore his films and felt that the future he created for Children of Men was very close to the present I was seeing in disaster zones. I was hoping he would send me a quote for the book jacket and instead he pulled together this amazing team of artists -- including Jonás Cuarón who directed and edited -- to make The Shock Doctrine short film. It was one of those blessed projects where everything felt fated." - Naomi Klein

http://www.naomiklein.org/shock-doctrine/short-film

Yeap, shock doctrine economic theory..... in all aspects of Iraqi life - 2003 was year zero in Iraq's new economic program, or capitalism and globalization to the extreme.

Now, really, we cannot say that the bush/cheney administration expected so many to get raped so badly - and we certainly cannot claim that is what they wanted -- it is just that they do not care not bit.

September 24, 2007 at 11:42 AM

Anon 12:42 I agree, they dont care not one bit. Thats exactly right...

Alonesoul, do you wanna know what Iran is doing??? Iran myfriend is killing MY people. Iran my friend, is destorying my country. I dont need BUsh or anyone to tell me so, cuz I know it. I hear it from the real people here, the Iraqi people who are suffering. Iran is arming the militias, supplying them with weapons, thats what Iran is doing. And so are the other countries, who are supplying weapons to Al Qaeda and the insurgents. Everyone is the culprit here, not just Iran. Even the current Iraqi govt is a culprit. The only victim is none other but the Iraqi citizen. Does that answer your question? And btw, Iran being muslim, does not deter it from being evil...Look at al Qaeda! Dont they talk in the name of god? They sure have tainted our religeon, when infact Islam is the purest form of all...Its a shame how our Prophet's message (PBUH)has been altered...

Hiya Matt, nice to see you here again...

Olaff, no I disagree. In my own humble opinion, I think Al qaeda AND iran propose the same threat to Iraq. The same exact threat. They both want the country to be unstable.Infact, from what I see, I find that everyone wants Iraq to be unstable...

September 24, 2007 at 1:22 PM

salaam.
well neuritica i hav said that iran might be doing bad to iraq ( as u said that it is doing bad to iraq ............ so i beleive u ).
But what harm is Iran doing to Syria, what harm is Iran doing to UK, What harm is Iran doing to Saudi Arabia , What Harm is Iran doing to Egypt , what harm is Iran doing to norway, what harm is iran doing to afghanistan ,what harm is iran doing to Canada. whatharm is iran doing to china, what harm is iran doing to Japan. what harm is iran doing to all the other ( 150 Plus countries ) countries of this damn world ......

what harm .....................

Dear what i wanted to say is that please u can say that " Iran is Evil for Iraq " but why say that "Iran is evil for the world".

this is the only thing which i want to say .......... rest i dont have anything else to do with ur opinions ........ u r free to say/expresss and i m free to say/express what i feel .

Anyhow , u might not understand what i want to say .......

thanks for replying

Have a nice time ......

alonesoul- Does Iran support Hezbolah?

September 25, 2007 at 9:14 AM

EXACTLY RIGHT JULIE ? THAT IS THE QUESTION THE AXIS OF EVILiran tries it on in all sorts of ways So this listing above is proves nothing because iran has an evil agenda in general

September 25, 2007 at 11:33 AM

hi all,
julie ,

the answer to ur question would be another question by me :
does america support Israel? Does Uk support Israel?
if they do support israel and give them money ,weapons etc then include America, Uk,etc all in the axis of evil.

but if the criteria is only for iran, libya and Nkorea only, then sorry i cant accept that criteria.
i mean US,UK can support any country of the world . But if these 3 countries say even a single word which is against US, UK and their child i.e Israel then these countires become AOE.

the point here is that i can accept that iran might be doing wrong there in Iraq. But sorry dear i cannot accept that Iran is doing wrong when it supports supporting Hezbollah.

bcz u have no criteria for US,Uk etc when they support some particular countries. but ur criterias for other countries are different .

I have no doubts this blog might be worth READING. However the background of the temple obscures most of the print.

Hey I just came across your blog today reading online news. I'm an American Soldier serving right outside the Green Zone. Actually on FOB Falcon if you want it exact. Your Blog along with other fellow Iraqi Bloggers came across the wire. I thought maybe I should get to know Iraqi people before judging them by their country and how messed up it is. I wanted to tell you that I enjoy reading your blog as it's easy to understand and gives me a little insight on what Iraqi people are thinking. I'm so terribly sorry for what has happened to your country. Just remember the Americans are here to help Iraqi people and are not against them. I really wish the best for this country and the future you have. I want to see Iraq kids grow up in a world free of violence everyday and I'm sure you would too. It's a confusing world and I'm still trying to get a hold of it. Wish you best of luck. You can e-mail me at tyler.moore2@us.army.mil
