Update...

Oh and I forgot to mention, that I had asked HUBBY about the elections in Iraq, and how are the people taking it. Apparantely many of them think that its elections regarding who will become president. They are not well informed that these elections aint for the presidency but for the 275 members of the constitutional assembly, who will be responsible for dictating a new constitution.

I aint sure if there is time for people to get registered and for voting to take place, but I hope that by then everyone will know what these elections are about....Its the first time in our Iraqi history that people will be free to choose whomever they want without fearing torture, but then again, there will be those Zarqawi people and what have you who will try their best to destroy this freedom......

well i doubt the US would care much who the iraqis elect president since that position has almost no power according to the constitution. also, most polls show that allawi has a pretty high rating among iraqis, around 70%. if karzai won easily in afghanistan, why can't allawi win easily in iraq? it's going to be difficult to educate the iraqis since the UN hasn't given even half-assed support. in afghanistan many people from the UN helped with elections, but it doesnt look like the europeans want to help in iraq, so we'll see what happens.

Sorry about the anonymous post, I haven't registered. Anyway; here in the U.S. we have elections all the time and it seems to me that half the people don't know what they're voting on or for or what the issues are. So don't be too surprised.

I've said this about Afghanistan, and I'll say it here; it's not so critical that the exact right people get elected in this election. What's critical is that the people who are elected are able to serve freely, and that there will be successive elections, and where the people elected in the last one peacefully pass power over to whoever is newly elected.
